Our Masterclass Spanish course is a two-week course specially designed for students of over the age of 50 and their special interests. The course aims to seek a perfect balance between the study of Spanish and its culture. The course includes 4 hours Spanish tuition per day, from Monday to Thursday, with a varied program of activities and excursions.
Courses:
* Spanish & Culture of Spain: Two-week course specially designed for students with special interests who want to combine learning the Spanish language with learning about the culture of Spain. Examples include: Introduction to Spanish Art of the 20th Century (Gaudi, Picasso, Miro and Dali) or Creative Literature workshop (playing with poetry, metaphors, an approach to Spanish language poets) Level recommended is intermediate.
* General Intensive: The aim of these courses is to develop a firm grasp of the structure of Spanish with an emphasis on spoken forms. Classes cover all aspects of learning the Spanish language.
* Spanish for Business: Fast Track Learning. These courses are designed with the businessperson in mind, and deal with the kind of Spanish Language which is relevant and useful to those engaged in day-to-day business life. Combined course of general Spanish and business Spanish. The course syllabus has been designed to cover the requirements of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Madrid Industry Examinations. Minimum level intermediate.
* Gap Year Spanish: The ‘Instituto Cervantes’ organizes exams in the Spanish language known as ‘Diploma de Espanol como Lengua Extranjera (or DELE). The exams are offered at three levels:'inicial' (elementary), 'basico' (intermediate) and superior (advanced). These exams are held in May, August and November. All three exams include components of reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary and oral expression.
* Survival Spanish: The aim of these courses is to develop a firm grasp of the structure of Spanish with an emphasis on spoken forms. Classes cover all aspects of learning the Spanish language
* Spanish for Work: Total immersion course specially designed to reach specific objectives in the shortest possible time. Focus of the course can be geared to any profession and can combine general with business Spanish. A detailed needs analysis is made of the trainee's needs.
* Spanish Teacher Training Course: This program is for teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language. Our courses, including refresher courses for Spanish teachers, are world-renowned and we have trained almost 1500 teachers in Madrid. We offer a course designed to focus on methodology and culture. The courses are directed towards any person interested in the field of Teaching Spanish /FL. They are also very much appreciated by experienced teachers who wish to update their methods, skills and techniques.
Theory: 60 hours Methodology of teaching Spanish /FL. Analysis of the four linguistic skills and language analysis. Practice: 45 hours. Second part of the course of crucial importance: this is when participants put into practice the theoretical aspects learned in the morning sessions.
Classes with voluntary students are organized where the trainees are observed by a tutor. At the end of these classes, there is a round of discussions about the performance of each trainee. Limit admission date: one week before the course starts. Limited number of participants. Diploma and result report awarded at successful completion of the course. Course of 250 hours are divided into theory and practice sessions.
The first edition of the course will take place in its intensive mode. Since the 80’s we have seen a constant renewal of methodologies and approaches to teaching languages, especially Spanish. Madrid’s Open Days consist in organizing, developing and integrating with clear proposals and concrete examples all what the Spanish teacher is experiencing in his/her classroom. Our main aim is to favor the exchange of experience, views and ideas between teachers.

Faculty Information:
All our staff are qualified, dedicated and experienced teachers who are native or bilingual speakers of Spanish. Direct Communicative Technique methods are used throughout. These are currently considered the most effective systems of broadening the students' knowledge of vocabulary, structures and idiom. Classes are normally run between Mondays & Fridays. Due to varying travel schedules, alternative arrangements can be made. Students’ level of proficiency is established through a written assessment test on the first day of school.
Other Activities:
A wide and varied cultural and social program is offered over the afternoons and evenings. There are 10 hours per week of extra curricular activities included in this course. By way of example, you could find yourself on an unforgettable visit to the Goya or Velazquez rooms at the Prado Museum under the guidance of our highly knowledgeable teachers or having drinks and watching a flamenco show. Visits, sports, talks, excursions, films, meals, fiestas, music shows make up the busy social program.
Facility Information:
The school in Madrid has been established for over 20 years and has an excellent location right in the center, near the Plaza de Colon, in a vibrant, commercial, elegant and secure area. The school is bright and spacious with 19 fully equipped classrooms, a library, video library, self-access center, Internet café and relaxation area.
The Business Language Department is housed just five minutes away and has a further 14 classrooms. The teachers are experienced and motivated and fully aware of the challenges involved in learning a language. Many are also authors of Spanish teaching books.
