Quick techniques to express your vision of eye and heart, and have fun in the process! Ideal for a spontaneous creative pick-me-up.
Suggested Materials List:
* Sketch book, coil bound 9 x 12 or 11 x 14", good quality paper suitable for some degree of water media
* Pencils, 2B - 6B
* Watercolor crayons
* Watercolor pencils
Palette and 6 colors (watercolor or acrylic):
* Alizarin Crimson
* Cad red medium
* Warm blue (green shade) or Windsor Blue or Thalo Blue
* Ultramarine Blue
* Lemon Yellow (or Windsor Yellow or cool yellow)
* Cad yellow medium
Acrylic painters may want to include white and black:
* Watercolor paper or watercolor block (recommend Arches 140 lb medium but bring what is comfortable and familiar)
* Acrylic painting panels (canvas or MDF or any other suitable surface primed and ready to paint). The smaller sizes are recommended (11 x 14, 16 x 20)
* Brushes - personal choice, but suggest a selection of larger flats, rounds (and mops for watercolorists)
* Sit upon (a small folding chair or stool, or simplicity itself - towel in a plastic bag)
* Easel (there are a few here you can use)
* Masking tape, boards for mounting watercolor or sketching paper, watercolor crayons (supplied)
Faculty Information:
Dianne brings to all her work the knowledge and discipline of careers in graphic design, fine art, natural history illustration, and, exhibit design for Canada’s national parks. She is also an accomplished watercolor painter and workshop presenter. Dianne inspires students with her unabashed enthusiasm, humor and knowledge of the creative process. She lives and works on Cortes Island in B.C.’s northern Gulf Islands.

Facility Information:
Located on beautiful Quadra Island, surrounded by woodland acreage and deer near beaches and ferry, the studio is very comfortable. Eight people can work in the studio and the workshops have been great for all concerned. Time in the studio is available to artists that want to come and work when they stay in the accommodation for a small fee. A bright and comfortable bed and breakfast retreat with a 2-bedroom cottage available too.
