Scandinavia is a large territory. Going from "A" to "B" in a country like Sweden, Norway and Finland can sometimes take a whole day and even more if you travel by car or by train. Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) offers most of the domestic flights there, but sometimes at prices that makes a A-B trip as expensive as flying from Copenhagen to New York!
So a number of small good quality low cost airlines have sprung up all over Scandinavia. They often leave from the airports that are right in the city centers (main airports in Scandinavia are usually located about 40 min-1 hour from city centers) and some include free catering on board for economy class, something SAS has long banned from its planes.
