| Morocco – Kasbahs, Deserts & Oases |
| Submitted by roxy on 2006-12-20 02:39:17 (via www.traveltoparadise.de) |
| “Kasbahs, Berber and nomads. These are only some catchwords which describe Morocco”. What happened to my old dream, getting to see the desert? Reading this article made me vivdly imagine the powerful sand dunes and the amazing green oases in North Africa, and it got me started: I’m already putting money aside for the trip of my life. I’m serious!:)

Pure orient! I like it. I like it a lot. YOu keep on reading about oasis and desert and there is an oasis...it's time to see it for real.
So, what makes orient so atractive? Maybe it's its mystery to us. I'm wondering if the local are as fascinated? |

Very beautiful discription. makes me miss my country. Morocco is a gorgeous country however for many americans it is a difficult place to travel. You cannot show the people you have money because they have none. Be respectful to their costums and way of living. Do not walk around in a mini skirt and expect not to be hassled. |

Though have been in love with Morocco for about 4yrs now, I've never been there. So I can't tell you for certain that it is this way. I can only say that, from what I know about the country, the article is true, but it's not the half of it. It doesn't tell you about the people and their welcoming nature; or about the sheer beauty of the culture itself. For that, you should talk to a native - or even someone who has lived or traveled there.
Other than that, there are a few things you can take a look at - the book, "Morocco" by Taschen is awesome. It tells a lot about each city and there are a ton of really beautiful pictures. Also there is a blog I read - http://moroccanmaryam.typepad.com .
Those should help you out a bit and the blog has plenty of links to others that may give you some insight. |
