Albania Travelogue

Tired of the most popular travel destinations? Then don’t go in there! Unless you are an US or former USSR citizen, you can go to Albania. Yeah, sounds pretty exotic, but be prepared for no hot water in the morning and toilets that don’t flush. If you can skip these small details it can be pretty interesting!

God was very generous whith Albania and Albanian people. It has given them a breathtaking landscape, abundant wealths and natural resources, outstandingly proud ,industrious and hospitable people. A spirit of peace and adventure that could heal and cheer up any living soul. A 504 km long seaside envied for centuries by the neighboring countries and numerous Emperors that has sought to establish and enjoy their earthly paradise merely in Albania.
The land of the most ancient native population in Europe - Illyrians , Albania provides everything that people from different cultures, beliefs, backgrounds may seek. Pictoresque Mountains for Mounteneers,Very Ancient Magnificient sites/cities dating from Pre-historic era down to the blossoming Roman Splendor for History-fiends, Seaside unmatched by any other in the Adriatic Sea, Muslim, Catholic, Orthodox cultures all comprizing a conglomerate of tolerance, mutual respect and appreciation that you can seldom find elswhere in the world.

All in one there is a very old saying for this part of Europe " You don't come FROM Albania, You come TO Albania", meaning that visiting Albania is once-in-a-lifetime experience which you do not want to miss should you pretend to you have seen the cradle of one of the most ancient and advanced civilisation of the human kind in this part of the world.

Albania is a beautiful country - a mini Switzerland and it was very behind the times until recently when it started trying to update itself. The people are kind, friendly but always have an eye on the almighty dollar. The housing is OK but the infrastructure is not in place. It is a beautiful place to visit, bargains to be found and a great time to be had by all, but stay there for good - NO WAY

Absolutely stunning to read this -- being from Albania myself-- abou a bygone era in which my parents and grandparents grew up in. Although very much outdated, this article provides a background to the amazing progress of today's Albania and the way it has adapted to the western style of life. While the geographic beauty still remains, the cultural asthetics have also changed, making Albania an excellent destination for tourists. Very interesting article, although it should be kept in mind that this is an old Albania, which does not reflect the new one.

Albania is a very nice country and a place that has a lot offer and lots of things to be seen.I have been to Albania at least hundred times and I personally find that country quite amusing and beautiful. The city I find most beautiful in Albania is Kruja with castle that belonged to their greatest national hero Skenderbeu and those narrow streets that gives you the impression how that town looked like hundreds of years ago.I really get sick when I see that the some people are having prejudices about the name Albania and the country itself. It is a country that is developing really fast and I can tell you that in 10-15 years time Albania will be number 1 tourist resort in Europe because it has all the potentials and very strong will to do so.The cities I would recommend to see are:Kruja,Durres,Berat,Appolonia,Saranda,Tirana etc.So in my opinion Albania is a must-see country. You either like it or not but nevertheless it is important to experience a differnce, and believe me in Albania you will get that experience.
