| Bosnia |
| Submitted by roxy on 2008-12-17 05:49:07 (via www.bazaarplanet.com) |
| A trip to the eastern part of the Europe is always challenging and captivating, especially if talking about Balkans. This time it was Bosnia to catch the eye of our fellow travelers Jemetha and Robert. Follow them on their trip and see what this country has to offer.

any time is good to travel to bosnia...now the weather is a little rainy, and it will start tosnow any day now, but it's nice to come even if it is snowing...especially if u like skiing. in bosnia were held winter olimpic games, so that information speaks for itself.
one more thing...most people speak english, some better some worse, but it is helpful for u...and everyone is friendly :-) |

Well, it s true that we had a bad time in here and we still have some ruins but it look s lot beter than 10 years ago. I think it s save to travel in here cause i live in Bosnia and im still alive. =)
We have now much more to offer than before, but ill give you one adress where you can find some interesting stuff you need to know and maybe you want to visit.
Go here: http://www.bhtourism.ba/eng/theheartshapedland.wbsp i live in section 4 in Krajina, and if you decide to visit my country you will not regret!
Shore there s suff that maybe you wont understand and maybe it look a bit strange but here lives al least 3 nations and you cant control each one of them. I am a muslim but i dont live in a house where no one can come in, most of us are modern families and we live in houses who are just like yours.
Sorry on my not so great english! =)
Byeeeee, have fun in Bosnia and Herzegovina! |

Here in Bosnia we celebrate Christmas 2 times :) 25.12. catholics celebrate, and 6.1. ortodox celebrate Christmas. In Croatia Christmas is like in other west europe countries, and in Bosnia it is more calm for both of Christmas. For us the New year is the day that we celebrate the most and it is the celebration everywhere, i think it is interesting to come here for New year. |

In my city you have many places for celebrations, on open or at some club or restourant. In clubs you may find some modern music but mostly there s our folk (country) music, it is fun, shore, but not on english.
You re probably goin to visit Sarajevo the capital of Bosnia so here you can find some restaurants and hotels:

Ok like this, when I was reading this I could understand they were just in Sarajevo. I don't think that all is written is true, but Sarajevo is really nice and old city. I live in Banja Luka which is totaly diferent than Sarajevo. Why? In Bosnia are 3 nationalities, 3 religions (which are dominating).
In Sarajevo live muslims (minority of Serbs and Croats) and there is dominate islam religion. In Banja Luka live 80% Serbs, 10% Muslims, 5% Croats , 5% others... Than In Sarajevo you will se many mosques, in banja Luka churches (orthodox and Catolic), so if you like to learn about bosnian history and diferent cultures in one country you are welcome. This is also party place cause alcohol drinks are much cheapre than in other countries and food is great.. Great restaurants, clubs ... |

I would advise two meals, a basic and a complete one.
The basic you can buy almost everywhere along any street: cevapcici:
little sausages of minced meat (pig/lamb), roasted on a woodfire, served on a taosted bread, covered with onions and ajvar (paprika spread).
Believe me, its cheap and its excellent !
Another, more complete meal is roasted lamb:
roasted turning over a woodfire, crispy, tasty, a pure and excellent meal.
Simply served with a salad, homebaked bread, and if you like, joined with domaci (local) wine or a good pint of beer.
Still there is a lot more to enjoy, as fish straight from the river, or the best seasonal fruits and vegetables. its all worth tasting.
And do'nt forget those local cheeses, to many to mention, most of them strong tasting hard cheeses from goat-, sheep- or cowmilk.
Go go go, you won't regret, and will go back.
