According to the Lonely Planet guidebook (I suggest to bring one). April is the hottest month (but not by much). June-October has the most rain; the hurricane season is from July to November. I was there in mid-summer and got some heavy but brief rain, and it was hot and often overcast, but still enjoyable. There don't seem to be the weather extremes that we get in Europe.

My sister is traveling this spring to Mexico on an exchange program. She will stay there for a month or so.Could you please recommend places for her to visit. And what about the food there?

Well, after less than two weeks there I am hardly an expert... I can recommend the places I describe in my article, all of them. I'd add Palenque to the list; I wanted to go there but ran out of time.
Food was never a problem. I didn't see much haute cuisine but the food I had was basic, good, and cheap. I don't like hot and spicy food and had no problems with that.

I don't know much about Yucatan, but this year I was in Dominican Republic and enjoyed a lot, I stayed in the Sosua Bay resort in Sosua, this is located in the north coast of the island.
