| Return to Ouvea, New Caledonia |
| Submitted by pacifico on 2009-05-03 19:49:18 (via www.worldisround.com) |
| Ouvea is everything you'd expect in a South Pacific island. Twenty kilometers of unbroken white sands border the lagoon on the west side of the island and extend far out from shore to give the water a turquoise hue.

It is necessary to have lived in New Calédonie for connaitre really what are event of 84/88. The wrongs(disadvantages) are shared enter the Kanaks (freedom fighters) and the other ethnic groups who live there. The Kanaks feeling violated in their independences rebelled and made many damages on their passages (viols / attacks ect) and the French state did not want to lose a hen in golden eggs and they made that they.
Concerning Éloi Machoro, there is a personality debated in New Caledonia: for the European populations of the Territory (or European New Caledonians), and generally for the anti-freedom fighters, his name is associated with the violence of the real civil war which raged then on the Territory. For the freedom fighters on the other hand it is about one of them more charismatic leaders and of a hero fallen in martyr. -___-"
May 4th, 1989, on the island of Ouvéa, president of the FLNKS ( freedom fighter), Jean-Marie Tjibaou, and his(her) General Secretary, Yeiwéné Yeiwéné, were murdered. Their murderer, Djubelly Wéa, the former(ancient) minister and the former(ancient) activist of the PALIKA, blamed both men(people) for having signed in June, 1988 the agreements of Matignon with the State and their anti-independent opponents of the RPCR (Rally for Caledonia in the Republic).
The Agreement of Nouméa of May 5th, 1998 foresees(plans) then the implementation of a strong autonomy (with progressive transfers of skill(competence), only the kingly powers that are the safety(security), the justice, the right(straight) general, the currency(change), the foreign policy), the construction of a common fate, the implementation of a New Caledonian citizenship (opened to the French people taken up residence in New Caledonia since November, 1998 and to their descendants)
This arrangement(measure, disposal) creates the notion of hereditary citizen, sanguinis juice in right(law) of the nationality, for the referendums of self-determination between 2014 and 2018, the provincial elections, the defence of the culture Kanak.
The hereditary citizenship exists in numerous European countries: Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Iceland, Finland, etc....
To return to the ile of ouvéa there, she(it) is magnificent but the Island of pines is the most beautiful ISLANDS LOYALTY ^ _ ^. People in New Calédonie are pluris ethnic (Tahitian, Walisien, Europeans, Indonesians, Melanesians and the others else). A Paradise on earth(ground) ^ _ ^ |

the comment of kal is not everything really made.
I'll make it clear:it is true that the freedom fighters, for the greater part Melanesians, almost activated(started) a civil war between 1984 and 1988, but the agreements of matignon in 1988 then those of nouméa in 1998 calmed the game(set, play).
Jean marie tjibaou, yeiwéné yeiwéné and eloi machoro were rather influential independent leaders, but 2 first ones were shoot by freedom fighter of their own politics groups!!
