| Bioluminescent Bay |
| Submitted by kiwi on 2007-03-01 05:44:01 (via stjohnbeachguide.com) |
| Absolutely blockbusting!!! If you splash water on your hair it will drip crystals of light like tiny sparkling jewels. If you bang on the sides of your kayak you’ll see the streaks of light they make underwater. If it starts to rain, the whole bay will light up, and everything is glowing and sparkling in electric greenish and bluish white light.

It's really fantastic to swim in a bay and have the water sparkling around you, I believe it is one of the most spectacular view in the entire life! It's just interesting, are there other bioluminiscent places in the world? |

There's one in Puerto Rico that used to be as good as the one in Vieques, but environmental and light polution has greatly diminished both the intensity of the bioluminescence and the concentration of the dinoflagellates.
