Monkey River
Submitted by cleo on 2007-03-01 06:43:05 (via www.eltravelbugs.com)
Canoeing down the Monkey River, along thick green jungle walls, lulled by its constant buzz on a trip to meet the Belizean baboons. Unfortunately, instead of welcome they sent a “get lost” message by lobbing branches down like grenades on the enemy. Did you know about their ability and mechanism of roaring like King Kong?

Very nice review Cleo! I visited Ambergris Caye and enjoyed it so much! I was torn between going there and Placentia but decided to go to Ambergris Caye and next time see Placentia. I also did the jungle tour and saw many howler monkeys (and birds, and butterflies, and spider monkeys, and orchids, and bats…!). They were an amazing site! They didn’t send us a huge “get lost” message like you got but “whooooooooooo whuooop whooped” to let us know they were there! Thank you for sharing your story. It makes my want to return to Belize very soon!
