Here is an article about the Novi Sad in Yugoslavia: definitely a well preserved place in spite of the NATO bombing in 1999. Another amazing thing is the Petrovaradin's underground – a system of tunnels that are still intact today, as they were 300 years ago. It’s actually the place, where Underground film was made.

The events of 1999 in Balkans were indeed shoking. I still remember, there were reports of the situation in Serbia every day on the main News Channels. I know the Balkan countries were never considred very wealthy. It is interesting, could they recover the political and economical crysis of those years? Is it now a good destination to travel?
