“I always knew that a bike helmet would save my life someday, I just never expected it would be like this.” If you think this happened when the man got into an accident, you’re wrong. It actually saved him from a robbery attack, when a guy kept hitting him with a pole on his head, while the other was trying to snatch his bike away…

I've been there the first week of December. And if you're in the city, don't expect to get much sleep if you're a light sleeper. Because fireworks go off every 5 seconds.

I would like to provide another picture of Nicaragua. It's sad to see that this guy had some problems while visiting my country. I visit Nicaragua every year and consider it very safe. There are bad neighborhoods just like any other country but violence is really not a serious matter over there. The people are VERY friendly, we're known for our hospitality. Don't judge Nicaragua just because of one bad story, read around and you'll se that it's pretty good and interesting.
Masaya, Granada, San Juan del Sur, Ometepe, there are many beautiful places to visit.
Also, Leon has GREAT food! You have to look around and interact with the people.

Nicaragua is a beautiful country. I've gone either once or twice a year since 2004. The people are amazing, and so is the scenery. And generally speaking, their roadways are very nice, so you can easily travel from city to city, and see a lot in one visit.

I was born in Leon, Nicaragua and raised in Masaya. I came to USA when I was 11yrs. My whole family live in Nicaragua and every year I go to visit them; I tried my best to be with one of them outside on the street.

People there they know that you are an outsider even if you were born there. I guess they recognized you by the way you talk or the way you are dress.

So for outsiders who would like to visit Nicaragua, I strongly recommend not to go alone in the streets; specially in Managua.

Nicaragua has some beautiful places to visit such as the islets in Granada; Leon and Bluefields. They are so beautiful.

I believe that whatever you go, there is always a place that is not safe to go by yourself.
