| A walk through Paramaribo |
| Submitted by roxy on 2007-05-23 03:44:44 (via www.babakfakhamzadeh.com) |
| Here a virtual walk through Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname. Suriname is sometimes credited as being a true multicultural society. This is only partially correct. Although many different cultures do live intertwined, it's just that, they're living close together, but not really integrated. That makes Paramaribo a really cosmopolitan city.

Hi, a pretty accurate description of the the things you can do in Suriname BESIDES going to the interior. I have done most of it myself (give or take a few things) and have similar experiences. I appreciate the style of writing; descriptive, non-obtrusive, non-judgemental! Having been here myself I know EXACTLY what you mean, reading between the lines! Am still planning to go to Kourou for a launch and do some trips into the interior. Even after a year, a cannot make a tjoerie.... :-) Suriname, great, yet small; beautiful but difficult; so many different cultures and influences that the country is suffering from a permanent identitiy crisis; rich yet poor (and corrupt).. Keep it up! DJ |
