Slovenia
Submitted by roxy on 2007-07-19 03:36:24 (via svlaisavljevictravel.blogspot.com)
Slovenia is a cultural crossroads where East Europe meets the West. This makes it perfect for meeting old friends, tasting delicious meals, admiring stunning sceneries and enjoying New Year's Eve. Even if many countries are said to be like this, after reading this article I am inclined to agree Slovenia is special. Still doubt it? Get convinced!

I did hear something about Slovenian wines but I didn't know that it was so important for their economy...
What about that oldest live wine tree Stara Trta? How old is it?

I think this article is very good. I'm from Croatia so my country is next to Slovenia and I've visited that country for many times. I have some friends there that I've met during my vacations in Slovenia. I've been in Ljubljana for many times and I'm delighted with the city. I've also been in Maribor, Novo Mesto and Postojna which is absolutely great and I would recommend everyone who has an opportunity to see it. Who ever comes to Slovenia, won't regret it.

Zdravo!
I'm absolutely honoured to read this wonderful article about my homeland - not that I'm not convinced, that we are privileged to live on this absolutelly amazing and diverse piece of land - but a recognition like this makes me even more aware of it.
For all the travellers I would beside the capital of Slovenia-Ljubljana; than Maribor, Novo mesto and Adriatic coast recommand also the region of Julian Alps - with Triglav National Park, Soca valley (cities Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin) - that offers a wide spectrum of activitys. Than Cerknica - with its disappearing lake.
Than on the other hand a totally different region with flat landscape on the northeast side of our country - Pomurje, that is surrounded with picturesque rounded hills of Gorisko region.
Not to forget city Kranj and region of Kamniško-Savinjske Alps (mediaeval city Škofja Loka, Jezersko, Velika Planina plateau..).
In general, Slovenia is really a tiny little country, with really diverse sightseeings - so there is a place and activity for everyone;)
I think I've been more than exhaustive:) and I hope that I maybe awoke some interests for our beautiful country in your eyes;)
Petra

Ps: More informations of our country you can find on: http://www.slovenia.info.

I’ve been reading the article and guess it did hit al the major tourist attractions if you are into that commercial crap. But Slovenia isn’t about that, Slovenia is about the people living here. You can always go to all the tourist sites, to the sea site…but if you really want to experience Slovenia you need to go to the tourist farms, visit the vineyards on the East side of the country (Bizelsko, Brežice, Krško…) also if you want to experience Julian Alps go to Tolmin, Soca valley, Kobarid, Bovec. All in all this country is too stirred up for describing. It may be small but because of the history and position everything can change in a matter of kilometers.

Just go and experience it for yourself…because it touches everyone differently. Only one thing is for sure, the people are hospitable and everybody is welcome!

Slovenia is small, nice country, full of history, nice places, good food and wines. It's hard to describe, which region you should see first, which one you could miss... Every region is famous for its history, cultural and other backgrounds, so there is something for everbody.

You can get more information about all Slovenian regions on http://www.slovenia.info

Dobrodosli...welcome ;)

I come from Celje it's a town in a middle of the country. I must say it's quite funny to have ski resorts and sea so close together.
But in my opinion the landscape in Triglav national park is one of the most stunning sights to see, specially Trenta valley.
Then you have Bled lake, but i prefer Bohinj lake, because it has more natural and beautiful sorroundings.
As for a ski resorts, they're not so big as in Austria, but they can be fun still. And in a summer time they are a good hiking places.

Have a nice day.

Hello!

Yes, it's nice to read so beautiful words about my country. And i must to say that a lot of tourists love Slovenia. I love my country too, cause it's very nice.. But people from Slovenia are very difficult. Here is a lot of other nations, from Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro (countrys of EX Yugoslavia). we have a nice but small coast, sea, mountins, a lot of forests, beautiful parks, nice cities,.. So, you wont be sorry if you come here. Just be carefull like in every countries, we are not perfect :P just a joke :)

That's is it!

Slovenia is small but big!!

Well, I agree with the article.
Tourists love our country, yay ^^
So anyway I recommend Tolmin, a beautiful town. When I was on metalcamp I was talking with people from other countries... Greeks, Germans, British people etc. and they all love Slovenia :D
It's a nice country for tourists ^^

Slovenia is a country where you can in one day eather be sweaming in the sea or skiing in the alps... You can do adrenallin sports,or just rest in spa's... There is s lot of cultural points as you can find also delicious meals, great vine and excelent beer ;)
It's small, reachable and full of everything...Our turistic infrastructure is very good. East meets west? Hrm... Funny. In some ways Slovenia is more western country than some other countries in western Europe. Low criminal - this is for my opinion very important for a traveler.
Best regards
Igor

Are you trying to say that Slovenia has a renowned beer industry as well? Really?

Submitted by Anonymous on 2007-08-16 05:21:03
beer industry in slovenia is traditional and strong branch...Two biggest brands are Lasko Pivo (Lasko Beer) and Union.

This is an excellent article and it is accurate as well. I'm happy that you had a good time in Slovenia. You were here in the winter which is good but if you come in the summer when the sun is up and you go to the region of Julian Alps you have a few very amazing views. But if you get a sunny day in the winter It is also great I just love the hills in my homeland.

So if you come to Slovenia Kranjska Gora is what you should visit:)
Gregor

Enjoy
