| “When you think of Uruguay what do you think of? If "not much" comes to mind then you would be in the majority. “ I don't know whether to be happy or sad for being in the majority. But hopefully, by reading this enjoyable report of some curious experience in the land of vintage cars, fields, cows, leaky condos and mate I rectified the situation ;)

Uruguay isn't exactly the best place in the world, but it sure is fun. The people are very nice and warm, there's plently of places to visit, the food is delicious, especially sweets. The parties are just awesome; they finish at 6am! Very lively at night too.
If you're planning to visit, I suggest you go to Punta del Este, it's our biggest tourist attraction. Beautiful beach, and very lively at night, festivals and party-like.
Just remember, Uruguay is in fact a third world country, so you will see poor constructed roads, dirty buildings and broken windows, beggers on the streets etc.
Still, Uruguay is a very nice place =) |
