What do you do, if you end up in Cordoba? Maybe by reading this, one can get a pretty good idea what the place is like, moreover there are plenty of pictures. The main attraction seems to be Mezquita, which I gather is a very architecturally intricate fortress…   More...

Saying Goodbye
Submitted by Adele on 2007-04-25 09:34:31 (via
How is it to retire at 32 and start traveling? You get packed, say your goodbyes (the hardest part) and take your course to countries that don’t seem very much promising. Still, it’s more enjoyable, if there is a surprise waiting for you before starting on the journey.

Get the reality of Rome: the noise, the graffiti, the ever-present traffic, and the never-ending barriers of parked vehicles… but still, the historic sights -- ruins and excavations, including the Coliseum (wonderfully lit at night) and Forum were awesome.   More...

Traveling to Curacao, a Dutch Island, to get to see a full eclipse of 3 minutes and 20 seconds and to find other people - eclipse groupies, who were truly into this sort of thing and to photograph them. Travel tip learned, do not order off the menu if there are no prices.   More...

The Darkness of Dachau
Submitted by kiwi on 2007-04-13 10:15:57 (via
“Dachau left a strong impression on me: one that is more forceful, more intense than I expected; one that has gone deeper than I initially would have wished.” Reading about the horror, the famine and the cruelty a prisoner in such a camp endured, I’ve realized over again how blessed we are to have the freedom we enjoy today.

The Naked Truth
Submitted by Adele on 2007-04-13 10:11:54 (via
“Fuerteventura is an island where if you were accused of being a witch, the town-folk would bind you to a steak on the mountain top to scorch in the sun for 5 days without food or water. If you survived, you were burned--certainly you must be a witch. If you were dead, it was a pity...someone must have made an error.” This is fun to read.

Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye
Submitted by kiwi on 2007-04-13 10:06:24 (via
The isle of Skye, located off the western coast of Scotland is well known for its marvelous scenery, especially when the sun is shining. Its bare hills, cliffs overlooking the water, grazing lands for sheep and the hairy highland cow, and the occasional farmhouse or B&B, usually built of stone or painted white will make for the highlight of a trip.

Barcelona Blues
Submitted by Amber on 2007-04-12 08:29:21 (via
Never thought Spain has so many incredible places to see: tucked away high amongst a series of long, finger-like spires of rock sat the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat; then, there is Salvador Dali's Teatre Museu in Figueres oddly decorated with giant eggs. Also, Barcelona nightlife, a pickpocket attempt, and being locked in yard…fun to read.   More...
