Bern -- Wrapped Around by the Aare
Submitted by roxy on 2007-03-14 09:44:49 (via
Bern is not only the capital of one of the wealthiest countries in the world; it is a real history lesson. You don’t need to read the history of Switzerland from a book, just walk through the streets of Bern. You can feel that people from different social backgrounds are sitting together, freely switching among English, French, German, and Italian.

Der Maibaum
Submitted by kiwi on 2007-03-09 08:20:10 (via
There is a very curious tradition down in the south of Germany: Der Maibaum or the Maypole. An entire procession and a true challenge of force and endurance in trying to bring this long, ton-weighting pole into a vertical position, using human muscle power only. The process takes about two hours... boy!   More...

Balkan Odyssey: The Long Road to Dubrovnik
Submitted by lisa on 2007-03-07 07:49:06 (via
“In today's modern age, getting from Point A to Point B is often very easy. Of course, there are exceptions; such as when Point A is Ulcinj, Montenegro and Point B is the Dubrovnik airport where your girlfriend is flying into”. Are You a Man?
Submitted by Adele on 2007-03-02 06:04:04 (via
Are you a man? What a question given the context. As if this is what makes a man - man, or proves a man - man. Often, it’s exactly the vice versa… in all senses of the word:) But that was not the case. It’s rather a surprising night spent in the land of the midnight sun.   More...

Driving to Russia: The First Time
Submitted by Adele on 2007-03-01 05:37:26 (via
Get an impression of what it meant to cross the Soviet Union border some year ago. It was much better then trying to get out, however. But suspicion ran in the blood of officials. It would not be easy to take a picture at the border and get away with it.
