| Dresden is one of Germany’s most attractive cities. It is a popular stopover on the rail and Autobahn routes, between Western Europe and Prague. The city is located just west of the border between Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic, about 205 km or 128 miles south of Berlin.

| I had the extraordinary opportunity to spend the better part of the last year living in Leipzig, Germany and am eager to share some of my fun travel adventures. While Leipzig is in the former East, closer to Berlin than to Munich, the September call of Oktoberfest drifted north from Bavaria and a friend and I made plans to visit the famed festival.

| There is a very curious tradition down in the south of Germany: Der Maibaum or the Maypole. An entire procession and a true challenge of force and endurance in trying to bring this long, ton-weighting pole into a vertical position, using human muscle power only. | This story made me think about how hard it is to find a place with purely traditional, authentic food, nowadays. But it’s far from impossible! These two friends talk about the time they had through Europe, looking for The Place and exploring the unique beauty of Germany, Austria and Luxemburg.
