Alaska travelogue, Preface: Snapshots from heaven
Submitted by christine on 2007-04-20 10:26:25 (via www.anands.net)
“How do I put it in words? The hundreds of waterfalls one sees driving through to Seward? The countless streams and rivers and lakes one sees when traveling to Denali? The lush green meadows? The snow capped mountains? The magnificent glaciers?” It’s indeed difficult to find the right words for this beauty, but the pictures are the best evidence.   More...

The Final Mountain Pass
Submitted by bindero on 2007-04-20 10:23:38 (via www.npr.org)
The view of a person that have just reached the final destination of his pilgrimage… a little more than just the description of the route. There is something special happening in the mind of a person going in a pilgrimage, I would say a long and hard road prepares the people for the scope of pilgrimage, purifies the thoughts and lightens the soul.

Personal Space, Private Lives
Submitted by bindero on 2007-04-20 10:21:58 (via www.npr.org)
Unbelievable how can people feel different about things as old as the earth and since the apparition of the humanity. Notions like land, property and ownership are so differently perceived by Americans and Tibetans… Is it the result of the social development or the profoundness of the Tibetan philosophy?   More...

In Malaysia, you must know, a mugger is not defined just as a person who is trying to snatch you purse away. It also can be a monkey. But this is not the only crazy thing about this place. Read on and have fun.   More...

Bangkok again...
Submitted by Amber on 2007-04-20 09:41:58 (via www.wired2theworld.com)
Not all toilet signs are the same everywhere around the world. Those in Thailand can be quite funny. But that’s not the point of this article. There are some quite curious things to discover…   More...

They Call Me Gringo
Submitted by cleo on 2007-04-20 09:38:00 (via www.adventureprone.com)
The terrain of Guatemala is amazing - sharp, jungle covered peaks as far as the eye can see. Beautiful to look at, a pain in the butt to bike. It's one thing to bike uphill, but in Guatemala it's up, down, up, down, up, down. You can be climbing for most of the day and not gain any altitude at all. But there is so much more to this account.   More...

Rome
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2007-04-20 09:33:13 (via www.dickandwitta.com)
Get the reality of Rome: the noise, the graffiti, the ever-present traffic, and the never-ending barriers of parked vehicles… but still, the historic sights -- ruins and excavations, including the Coliseum (wonderfully lit at night) and Forum were awesome.   More...

A Summer in Madison
Submitted by kiwi on 2007-04-20 09:22:56 (via www.dickandwitta.com)
For those preoccupied with little white balls, Madison is nice place to be. Even for the rest there are plenty of other ways to keep busy, especially a trip to Baraboo, where you can observe the development of a baby stork, for example, like this lady did.   More...

The Iron Ore Train
Submitted by Amber on 2007-04-20 09:19:32 (via www.geoffstravelscrapbook.co.uk)
Riding in this train is a different experience. I doubt you can get it anywhere else. People climbed in through the windows followed by tons of luggage; others were trying to climb up the steps into the carriage with giant suitcases and huge cardboard boxes and bags Besides these particularities it was it’s length that amazed me – 165 cars...   More...

Nice Guys, Keeper Snakes, Bats and Golden Showers
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2007-04-20 09:16:33 (via www.rhymer.net)
'Make sure you have a hat on' said my guide as we entered the cave. I ignored him - why the hell would I want to wear a hat in a cave?.. Then I got the answer to my question. I could feel dozens of small drops of moisture on my face and head… I could feel dozens of small drops of moisture on my face and head. What could it be?   More...
