Kava, Cindy's Cabaret and More
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-29 03:20:41 (via www.thetravelyear.com)
Samoa. It’s famous kava ceremonies, and how this American got fooled… don’t laugh. Cindy's Cabaret featuring men in drag with glittery costumes dancing with shirtless buff men in lava-lavas; a nice tour to the south beaches and more.   More...

Death in the Afternoon
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-28 05:38:48 (via www.shunya.net)
A traveler, haunted by scenes from a bullring, wanders the city. This time the Matador de Toros striding in for the solo act is a woman. But there are many more contrasting things to witness in Mexico.

Gibraltar by the Danube
Submitted by cleo on 2007-03-23 09:37:02 (via www.geocities.com)
Here is an article about the Novi Sad in Yugoslavia: definitely a well preserved place in spite of the NATO bombing in 1999. Another amazing thing is the Petrovaradin's underground – a system of tunnels that are still intact today, as they were 300 years ago. It’s actually the place, where Underground film was made.   More...

A Camel Trek in Sinai
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-23 09:31:37 (via www.trekdiary.com)
This is a very unusual trip to Sinai, ignoring the comfy, luxurious hotels and heading off to a stone walled and mud roofed building with no door, where you can sleep on the roof under the starry sky. Three days of camel trekking along the wide valleys and the rough mountains, then a visit to Ras Mohammed National Park, definitely worth visiting.

Chinatown, Singapore
Submitted by christine on 2007-03-23 08:22:32 (via www.thetravelyear.com)
Singaporean people love good food, so good food is everywhere. Chinese, Indian, Malaysian food is sold at the every corner and most of the dishes cost far above 3 bugs. Desserts are also so delicious that even without being hungry you keep thinking about them.

The Blue Ringed Octopus
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-23 08:19:02 (via www.heldencrow.com)
If you go to Australia, don’t stop to sleep in a hostel dorm. You never know what you may encounter. And that is not the spiders, sharks, taipans, scorpions, stonefish, jellyfish, sea snakes, ticks or blue ringed octopus I’m talking about… But it’s New Zealand that will impress you with its shortage of people.   More...

Food of Taiwan
Submitted by christine on 2007-03-23 08:02:03 (via www.holyshitake.com)
This is one of the amplest articles about Chinese food that I ever read. It is so detailed and tasteful looking that one may immediately want to taste almost everything described in it. Not in the same time, of course:). And as I am really a gourmand, I wish I had some free time to take a short run to Taipei, but, you know, responsibilities…Hmm!   More...

Flight of the Phoenix
Submitted by pablo on 2007-03-23 07:53:02 (via blogsofsandy.blogspot.com)
A trip of 240 km from Bangalore (India) to Yercaud and back on bikes can be a real adventure. Beautiful Indian temples, water falls similar to Niagara Falls, places with a high density of butterflies of different sizes and shapes, and lots of good memories makes the trip worth it every kilometer.   More...
