Elephant Encounter
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-29 04:48:26 (via www.2goglobal.com)
Did you hear about elephants attacking people? I thought they eat grass. If an elephant is coming on you, is a tent the best safety shelter?.. Anyways, that might happen when in the midst of African wildlife.   More...

Life in the Big City
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2007-03-29 03:48:22 (via www.adventureprone.com)
This is a fun to read story. Especially, the part where you try to change clothes in a bus station bathroom stall with an automatic flush sensor? Or try to get on a combination scale/biorhythm machine that requires you to type in your birthday, while holding your bike and all the gear. It happens...

Whitewater Rafting on the Nile
Submitted by cleo on 2007-03-29 03:35:18 (via www.vagabonding.com)
The objective to whitewater rafting in Uganda seems to be simple: flip the raft as often as possible. Those who, especially, like rafting are going to love this article. It describes the event just as it was, including the instructions of the Scottish rafting guide, up to the point of preserving his accent. The last is funny enough in itself…   More...

The Volcano
Submitted by Adele on 2007-03-29 03:27:51 (via www.wherescherie.com)
“The air stung my lips which were cracked like the crust of a desert. As my jelly-muscles hardened into brittle crepes I thought about one thing: I paid for this.” This is worth reading… I’ve never seen anybody loving life more then this girl! It’s so contagious!   More...

Kava, Cindy's Cabaret and More
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-29 03:20:41 (via www.thetravelyear.com)
Samoa. It’s famous kava ceremonies, and how this American got fooled… don’t laugh. Cindy's Cabaret featuring men in drag with glittery costumes dancing with shirtless buff men in lava-lavas; a nice tour to the south beaches and more.   More...

Death in the Afternoon
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-28 05:38:48 (via www.shunya.net)
A traveler, haunted by scenes from a bullring, wanders the city. This time the Matador de Toros striding in for the solo act is a woman. But there are many more contrasting things to witness in Mexico.

Gibraltar by the Danube
Submitted by cleo on 2007-03-23 09:37:02 (via www.geocities.com)
Here is an article about the Novi Sad in Yugoslavia: definitely a well preserved place in spite of the NATO bombing in 1999. Another amazing thing is the Petrovaradin's underground – a system of tunnels that are still intact today, as they were 300 years ago. It’s actually the place, where Underground film was made.   More...

A Camel Trek in Sinai
Submitted by Amber on 2007-03-23 09:31:37 (via www.trekdiary.com)
This is a very unusual trip to Sinai, ignoring the comfy, luxurious hotels and heading off to a stone walled and mud roofed building with no door, where you can sleep on the roof under the starry sky. Three days of camel trekking along the wide valleys and the rough mountains, then a visit to Ras Mohammed National Park, definitely worth visiting.
