Toilets flush counterclockwise in Timbuktu
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-28 03:15:00 (via www.stat.duke.edu)
Did you hear about that? Toilets flush counterclockwise in West Africa. It’s worth reading the travelogue of such a great observer! Oh, this observer also caught some virus and there’s a very funny picture showing his body’s contour on the bed, made out of sweat. I have to say that for a second, I thought it’s something else... Funny article again!   More...

Ethiopia for three weeks
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-28 03:12:51 (via www.stat.duke.edu)
It’s always funny to read westerners’ travelogues on Africa: the perspective is usually hilarious. Like this article, which ends with “anyway, Friends and Family, do not come to Ethiopia”. Now imagine its content. Or better read it yourself for a good laugh! Some flashes of honesty reveal the real beauty of this country; those are priceless!   More...

Maries World Tour
Submitted by Matz on 2006-11-28 00:27:35 (via www.mariesworldtour.com)
It's not about Algeria, but there are absolutely no appropriate topics here for World tours. This is the most amazing travelogue from travelling all around the World, mainly on the seas and overland, country by country during a couple of years.   More...

Introduction to Thai Food
Submitted by christine on 2006-11-27 03:56:07 (via www.chinatownconnection.com)
30 years ago, most westerners confused Thailand with China or Taiwan. What is it that made Thailand famous and well-distinguished among other countries nowadays? You probably guessed… it’s the Thai food (having me as a great fan too). Here are some secrets about the Thai food and the way it’s served in its home country… I’m already hungry.   More...

Round the World 2003 - New Zealand
Submitted by christine on 2006-11-27 03:54:03 (via www.break-fresh-ground.com)
It’s a thrill to be a cow in New Zealand. Yes it sounds funny, but imagine spending your life eating grass over looking gorgeous cliffs and turquoise oceans colors… Not bad, huh? Just like traveling in a van and stopping wherever you want, with the only sacrifice of missing a Tuesday because of the time zones. Well, at least it wasn’t a Saturday!

Our Really Big Adventure
Submitted by bindero on 2006-11-27 03:51:26 (via www.ourreallybigadventure.com)
What’s the worst occurrence while on an island? Dealing with cold or rainy weather? Getting out of money? Think twice! How about having bikinis outlawed, with a 6-month prison sentence for offenders? I’d say that’s tough… And also, there’s little or no alcohol available in The Perhentian Islands. So what’s left to do? DIVING! Read more…   More...

Un-Belizeable!
Submitted by cleo on 2006-11-24 05:01:30 (via www.bsactravelclub.co.uk)
Diving in Belize looks really unbelievable or un-belizeable ;o) A lot of nice and not so nice “fishes”! ;o) The most striking is the part were the divers are passing sharks one to another to pose with them for picture taking and the 7 hour boat ride home in the dark on a “boat” which had no lights. No problem! They had some candles. Just kidding;o)   More...

Ticoland - The Dream Trip
Submitted by Adele on 2006-11-24 04:57:02 (via www.break-fresh-ground.com)
A fantastic adventurous experience in Costa Rica! I had so much fun reading about their routine cuisine, weird bus system, no street names... But there is another side: The Baby Blue crater lake - a mix of the blue water and earth colors, the sky walk on Monte Verde and Dominical, the surfer’s Paradise. It was so much fun to read. I liked it a lot!   More...

Three Miles Up
Submitted by cleo on 2006-11-24 04:47:44 (via www.andrewgray.com)
Here - a very interesting account by a “guinea-pig” in a research, done during a high-altitude medical expedition to Bolivia to observe how high altitude affects people. Then there is the afterward adventure: piranha fishing, searching for anacondas, swim in a pool with dolphins and alligators – weren’t they "agresivo”?;o) Crazy! I like it!   More...

The Hike that Never Ends
Submitted by kiwi on 2006-11-24 04:39:58 (via www.travelblog.org)
A beautiful hike up the Cero Punto with tons of gorgeous hummingbirds up top, but then the mood changes when it starts raining… and on your way back you still have to go up, except now on a muddy trail. All wouldn’t have been so bad, if it wasn’t for the confusing mileage signs – the destination seems to be eluding, while you are drenched already…   More...
