Storms in Kazarman
Submitted by Amber on 2006-12-22 03:13:35 (via www.tandemtoturkestan.com)
Climbing on a tandem bicycle to the top of a mountain, spending a night in the storm and then descending. You’ve got to have the gut to do that. But the sight, it says, was worth it. Note one unforgettable moment: stumbling on the way upon the Kyrgyz version of polo game, where puck is replaced by a gruesome carcass calf…?

India Rats
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2006-12-22 01:46:42 (via dougs-travels.com)
What is worse: a rat or its fleas? I didn’t know rats have fleas that bite people. But they are all part of India’s ecolife;o) Read this story. It’s funny, but don’t let it spoil your desire to visit India. This kind of stuff can be avoided. I think;|

Jerusalem
Submitted by kiwi on 2006-12-22 01:31:13 (via www.edwebproject.org)
An embarrassing moment at the hotel, visiting of King David’s tomb, Mary’s Grotto, climbing to the Old City and walking down the Via Dolorosa, shops and markets, and the delicious Jewish food. It’s one of those articles that when reading one can easily imagine walking along to every place it describes.   More...

Cuzco, Peru - Spider! Spider! On the Bed!
Submitted by roxy on 2006-12-20 02:44:52 (via www.meganlyles.com)
What’s the best way to start a day? I’m not sure having a huge spider on your bed is the right answer… but it happened, and the poor thing went through a short photo-session before being kicked out of the house. Great trip report about hiking, dining and having fun in Peru! Plus – see why it’s harsher and harsher to be a monolingual these days.   More...

Japan Mount
Submitted by Adele on 2006-12-15 02:55:12 (via thinrope.net)
At the end of this story I simply laughed. This man is crazy. “You hear me Kalin? You are crazy. And funny.” I like to do crazy things to, but not that crazy! Ok, people, did you know about the Japanese Alps? I didn’t until I read this story. It’s funny, although incomplete… Is there a happy end to it?

Australian Wildlife
Submitted by Adele on 2006-12-15 02:36:34 (via www.traveladdicts.connectfree.co.uk)
I remember learning in school that in Australia you can find animals that are nowhere else on earth, but that touched me little. Reading this account by Christ and Lina gave me a real picture of the wildlife there. How fun – you walk along and here is a kangaroo peeping at you from among the bushes. You think: “What sort of creature is this?”

Arthropods and Insects
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2006-12-15 02:33:40 (via www.caldrin.de)
What are the small inhabitants of Bermuda? Let’s see, going there you’ll find guys who build webs, but not web-programmers, red crabs that don’t mind sacrificing an arm just to get rid of you, tough coackroaches which are the kind of animal that can make a full grown student flee in panic when noticed, aaa! as well as other impressive arthropods;)

The Wye Valley
Submitted by cleo on 2006-12-15 01:46:36 (via softadventure.net)
A fascinating place to visit, when in England – it seems like you get deep in the countryside and transfer in time centuries ago… Very unique location.

My Trip to Monasteryland
Submitted by Laurentzi on 2006-12-15 01:41:37 (via jaiarjun.blogspot.com)
This is a curious (at least 4me) experience at the Chokling monastery in the Bir’s Tibetan colony including the trip there and back. By the way, have you heard of people loving mountains, because they make them sick? I just did. Yeah, and would somebody tell me where Bir is?   More...

Eat a camel?
Submitted by bindero on 2006-12-11 23:41:29 (via blogs.bootsnall.com)
I’m pretty gutsy by nature, but I’d need some good thinking before trying… camel meat. This article tries to point out camel meat is very eatable, despite the many myths regarding its salty and strong taste. Still, most expatriates are curious about camel meat but only a few ever try it. That sounds fair to me! ;)   More...
