| Cycling in Ethiopia 2002 |

| Ethiopia may offer you the holyday of the lifetime. Cycling through Ethiopia is the best way to see the country. By air, you do not see rural Ethiopia among the big towns. By car, you go past too quickly. But by bike, you savor the sounds and smells of it, stop at the roadside and meet people, and begin to get a feel for the country.

| A trip of 240 km from Bangalore (India) to Yercaud and back on bikes can be a real adventure. Beautiful Indian temples, water falls similar to Niagara Falls, places with a high density of butterflies of different sizes and shapes, and lots of good memories makes the trip worth it every kilometer.

| If you have a girlfriend, think twice before taking her along with you on such a bike trip… This is one of the most unusual It’s takes place in Mahrashtra and no other state boasts of the variety of roads as Maharashtra does… but in this case the Taoist saying "Journey is the reward, not the destination" is very true.

| Never bike like this. Unless you really want to show off, racing with a train. This „tame” guy got a broken rib, but what mattered most at the moment was that the people on the train won’t see how he flipped over...

| Did you know you can’t ride a bike on sand? Probably so, if you are an experienced biker. Bilking through the Canyonlands National Park means an exciting time and a lot of amazing landscapes.

| This is a great bicycling tour of 827 miles. No parade and no fanfare at the end, “but I didn't need them. What I got instead were the memories of the dozens of kind souls who had poured out their hospitality on me, as I weaved my way in and out of their lives, out on the open road”. Courage and tenacity is required though for such an endeavor.

| Storms in Kazarman |

| Climbing on a tandem bicycle to the top of a mountain, spending a night in the storm and then descending. You’ve got to have the gut to do that. But the sight, it says, was worth it. Note one unforgettable moment: stumbling on the way upon the Kyrgyz version of polo game, where puck is replaced by a gruesome carcass calf…?

| Bicycle Tour of the Texas Gulf Coast |

| To all cyclists, here’s an idea of a great place for winter biking: Texas! Flat roads, low prices, a lot of bird-watching, friendly people, and safe itineraries... perfect! My favorite part was about how exciting biking is on a disappearing road (due to gulf storms), despite the many dreadful warnings of locals and authorities to avoid it!

| This is a pretty long, but very entertaining account on a bike tour from Hungary trough it’s awesome Budapest, then crisscrossing all over Romania’s old cities and beautiful landscapes and ending up in the gorgeous city of Sevilla, Spain. All this filled with many pleasant and less pleasant surprises, like the robbery at the Turkish baths and more.

| Limska Draga Bike Tour |
| Submitted by cleo on
2006-11-17 01:25:41 (via
www.trekearth.com) |
| This looks like a bicycle tour in the country side of Croatia. I found it attractive: kazuns (small, round shepherd shelters) along the road, the picturesque town of Tinjan with macadam roads, the ascending and descending cart-roads on the slopes of the beautiful Limska Draga valley. Hmm… so many different roads!
