Svalbard Bound
Submitted by bindero on 2007-07-20 01:59:06 (via www.ricksteves.com)
“Fewer of my best memories are linked with major tourist destinations”. Svalbard isn't what you'd really call popular. But, hey, who said you can't have fun on the top of the globe? The enthusiasm of the residents and the sensational dogsledding tours can rescue the whole trip. I'd feel proud if I visited a place where few take the challenge to go.

Submitted by roxy on 2007-07-19 03:36:24 (via svlaisavljevictravel.blogspot.com)
Slovenia is a cultural crossroads where East Europe meets the West. This makes it perfect for meeting old friends, tasting delicious meals, admiring stunning sceneries and enjoying New Year's Eve. Even if many countries are said to be like this, after reading this article I am inclined to agree Slovenia is special. Still doubt it? Get convinced!   More...

San Marino: A small republic that said no to Napoleon
Submitted by christine on 2007-07-18 02:36:37 (via weecheng.com)
San Marino is a tiny landlocked republic whose independence has faced many near misses in history. Being totally surrounded by Italian territory, this mini-state does not lack uniqueness, although it is hard to find in its capital city. The non-tourist area is where you can rub elbows with the natives and taste local meals for reasonable prices.

You say Slovenia, I say Slovakia
Submitted by pablo on 2007-07-18 02:03:06 (via www.travellady.com)
No matter how exciting trips are, sometimes one feels tired. Locations for vacations from vacations are hard to find, but for those who like surprises Bratislava is the place to go. Its edifices, cobblestone streets and restaurants make it a diamond of the central European rough, especially during Christmas. A day-trip is enough to feel enchanted.   More...

Sagrada Familia Caves
Submitted by Anonymous on 2007-07-15 00:09:26 (via coconuter.blogspot.com)
Climbing a long set of stairs that ascends up a mountain in the outskirts of Zambales Philippines takes one to a series of caves collectively known as the Sagrada Familia Caves. It is a tourist spot for avid spelunkers and a popular local attraction especially on Holy Day when many nearby residents climb up to the caves as a form of penitence.

Denmark
Submitted by christine on 2007-07-13 04:46:45 (via earth2marsh.com)
Copenhagen has much more to offer to tourists than just Kastellet, the National Museum, the statue of the Little Mermaid or the hippie community of Christiania. Bikes are part of its magic and they really enable visitors to feel the city's pulse. Plus, with a well-developed sense of humor, anyone is granted to experience Denmark at its best.   More...

Weekend in Macedonia
Submitted by bindero on 2007-07-13 02:22:49 (via zeuropes.free.fr)
Macedonia is very sympathetic with its small enchanting villages and unusual peacock guards. A trip to this quiet country is not what you would imagine an ultimate adventure like, but ... crossing its borders is really the icing on the cake. This whole ritual lasts for half an hour and that determines many tourists to despair. Welcome to Macedonia!   More...

Belgrade, Serbia
Submitted by lisa on 2007-07-12 05:05:11 (via www.hollabackpack.com)
Two ambitious Californians left their sunny state embarking on a journey through Serbia. Happily, the local attractions, the people and the food didn't disappoint. Even more, the trip proved to be more than enriching, as they discovered unexpected skills in other languages while their Serbian and the natives' English were limited. Serbia inspires!
