Sand Ship Discovery
Submitted by cleo on 2007-02-23 04:10:05 (via www.outbackofbeyond.com)
An unbelievable story! A trip on a second-hand 1966 CJ-5 Kaiser Corporation Jeep, starting from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, via the Pan-American Highway to the farthest road south on the South American Continent, then from Chile to Cape Town, South Africa, then up through Europe to Moscow, and so on… Lots of adventure and life-threatening situations!   More...

Brussels
Submitted by kiwi on 2007-02-23 04:02:21 (via www.sff.net)
This is an account on visiting the fascinating city of Brussels and the especially describing the “marvelous” high-tech traveling on the Eurostar train through the Channel tunnel. An experience worse then being on a plane. If you have long legs, better opt for the boat traveling.   More...

Middle of the World City
Submitted by Amber on 2007-02-22 07:56:56 (via www.tomgoetz.com)
Just 12 miles north of Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (Middle-of-the-World City). But don’t be fooled by it - this is a tourist-trap complex. The genuine equator and a terrific museum lie outside Mitad del Mundo. There you will find the actual, GPS-calculated, experiment-proven 00 degrees, 00 minutes, 00 seconds latitude.   More...

Travelogue Russia
Submitted by roxy on 2007-02-22 07:52:02 (via www.magicphotoworld.com)
By only reading this article one can make an idea of what Russia indeed is. Usually, what first comes to mind when thinking of Russia are the famous babushkas and vodka. But they are far not all, and Russians can be surely the winners of the world in making lines:).   More...

Hurghada, Egypt
Submitted by christine on 2007-02-22 07:49:02 (via www.utata.org)
No more than a fishing village fifteen years ago, Hurghada is now a city of forty thousand, whose big bang growth is attributable to just one thing: tourism. Although you may be annoyed by honking taxi drivers, sleazy date-seekers and insistent souvenir vendors, just a wider view on the beauties of Hurghada makes you forever love it!   More...

The City of Kathmandu
Submitted by Amber on 2007-02-22 06:16:41 (via www.worldtravelstories.com)
Nepal seems to be a lot like India when it comes to living conditions. Kathmandu - a very exotic city, with a maze of streets and many young people pretending to be students, wanting to practice their English and show you around. Do you think that is for free?   More...

Droit de Seigneur
Submitted by cleo on 2007-02-22 04:15:12 (via www.heldencrow.com)
The author calls Cuba a land o ironies: the communist revolution that was meant to bring equality to the masses has produced in the end a new nobility, the dollar tourists. It’s a sad situation, considering that a girl will offer herself for a price of the equivalent of a cup of coffee per night. At least that’s how things were five years ago.   More...

The High Seas
Submitted by lisa on 2007-02-21 08:08:45 (via possum-pie.blogspot.com)
I can’t stop be amazed of the way some people feel about things they see in a trip, or the shots they make during the trip. This is definitely one of the articles in which the author’s perception of the nature and all its processes, as well as her feelings toward what is happening are perfectly correlated in a delightful article about New Zealand.   More...

Travels with Sandy
Submitted by roxy on 2007-02-21 07:59:58 (via www.tktravel.co.uk)
Sandy…such a beautiful name, especially for a motorhouse:), this was a real adventure through the New Zealand on Sandy!!! Letting aside jokes this is a great article about the impressions in the Kiwi country, which is indeed beautiful! It's not surprising that a lot of the Lord of the Rings was filmed here. Fantastic!   More...

Okarito
Submitted by pablo on 2007-02-21 07:55:29 (via treks.gnomedia.com)
"Okarito is a small costal settlement with 20 inhabitants, no shops, no bank, a hostel with one double room and three singles and a very basic campside". It’s a place of pure meditation there, and it can surely pretend to be the perfect place for the quiet and trekking lovers!
