Venezuela: Urban Hell
Submitted by cleo on 2006-11-22 04:01:18 (via www.dcbachelor.com)
A very down to earth account of the life in Caracas. Barrios – what in the world are barrios? Wouldn’t know if I didn’t read this. Pretty freaky! You better don’t go there alone, ‘cause you’d be completely on your own even with cops nearby. Ha!   More...

A True Story
Submitted by roxy on 2006-11-22 00:49:54 (via uk.geocities.com)
This piece of writing really impressed me: I realized how superficial my perspective on Tibet was by now. I never knew about this country’s problems and now I can’t believe a small place like that can have such a tough past and present. It’s a very debatable article! Be ready for an interesting discussion to follow!

My First Trip To Europe
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-21 23:58:50 (via www.adventureliving.com)
This story made me think about how hard it is to find a place with purely traditional, authentic food, nowadays. But it’s far from impossible! These two friends talk about the time they had through Europe, looking for The Place and exploring the unique beauty of Germany, Austria and Luxemburg.

There is Only One Reason to Go to Trinidad
Submitted by cleo on 2006-11-21 03:05:14 (via www.break-fresh-ground.com)
The Carnival! In Trinidad it stands for a tremendous party with steel bands, fetes, masquerades, absolutely beautiful women and music. Wow! These people know how to party. It would be quite something to experience it one day.

Ciudad del Este, Paraguay - Itaipu Dam, Wonder of the Modern World
Submitted by christine on 2006-11-21 02:56:06 (via www.meganlyles.com)
I’m not into hydroelectric at all - but when I read this article I was staggered such a HUGE central like Itaipu Dam exists in Paraguay. It’s supposed to be one of the seven wonders of the modern world. Moreover, Paraguay is the world's largest exporter of hydroelectric power. That’s an interesting article even for an uninitiated like me!

Bill & Jen’s Millenium Experience
Submitted by bindero on 2006-11-21 01:46:05 (via www.frischling.com)
If you’ve never traveled in an African airplane, don’t be surprised if suddenly, without warning, there is a giant mountain passing next to your window a half mile away. Also, don’t be very mad if the plane takes off 30 minutes early. I’ve been to Kenya so I know all these, but I still found this article awesome and useful! See it yourself!   More...

Doing Mountains and Fjords in Norway
Submitted by christine on 2006-11-21 01:42:01 (via www.adventureliving.com)
I think I had lunch in every place you could think of, but reading this article made me realize I’ve never eaten from the arms of a glacier! I found this story interesting, and I’m surprised to discover Norway as a great place for hiking, trekking, and of course ice climbing. The fjords are amazing, too. Bon appetite when reading this travelogue!   More...

Baku Beyond: Adventures in Azerbaijan
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-20 03:42:16 (via www.xenophilia.net)
I knew very little about Azerbaijan before reading this article. What impressed me are the huge, immensely modern gas stations there, since the oil industry is highly developed. And there’s a lot to find out about attractions too – from seaside to old buildings, mountains and ancient carvings dating since the 1st century C.E. Surely worth reading!   More...

Bread and Toasts in Georgia
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-20 03:39:45 (via www.xenophilia.net)
Oh, I’ve heard too many myths about hospitality… However, this article almost made me believe in Georgians’ warmth, as the author claims to have gotten its first taste within a half hour of arrival. Read about old and new churches, great food, a lot of history, and awesome people – in other words, my next destination to see!   More...
