The Voodoo Lands of Togo and Benin
Submitted by pablo on 2006-12-11 23:36:26 (via www.xenophilia.net)
I’ve surely heard about voodoo, and I would’ve certainly loved to use it on some people (ha), but I’ve never assisted to a real voodoo ceremony. Now I know I shouldn’t miss my chance to do it if I ever go to Africa. And if I get to visit with the King himself, like this article’s author did, I can consider myself a happy traveler:).   More...

Toilets flush counterclockwise in Timbuktu
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-28 03:15:00 (via www.stat.duke.edu)
Did you hear about that? Toilets flush counterclockwise in West Africa. It’s worth reading the travelogue of such a great observer! Oh, this observer also caught some virus and there’s a very funny picture showing his body’s contour on the bed, made out of sweat. I have to say that for a second, I thought it’s something else... Funny article again!   More...

Ethiopia for three weeks
Submitted by pablo on 2006-11-28 03:12:51 (via www.stat.duke.edu)
It’s always funny to read westerners’ travelogues on Africa: the perspective is usually hilarious. Like this article, which ends with “anyway, Friends and Family, do not come to Ethiopia”. Now imagine its content. Or better read it yourself for a good laugh! Some flashes of honesty reveal the real beauty of this country; those are priceless!   More...

Bill & Jen’s Millenium Experience
Submitted by bindero on 2006-11-21 01:46:05 (via www.frischling.com)
If you’ve never traveled in an African airplane, don’t be surprised if suddenly, without warning, there is a giant mountain passing next to your window a half mile away. Also, don’t be very mad if the plane takes off 30 minutes early. I’ve been to Kenya so I know all these, but I still found this article awesome and useful! See it yourself!   More...

Beth’s Trip to Egypt
Submitted by bindero on 2006-11-16 02:53:52 (via www.zuckershack.org)
I never thought about an American’s perspective on Cairo, Egypt. I found it interesting, after reading this article: everything from food to taxi cabs seemed “incredibly inexpensive”, the people were friendly and the attractions – sometimes “odd”. Watch a lot of pictures and enjoy the experience of three Americans in the capital of belly dancing.

The Lesotho Experience
Submitted by roxy on 2006-11-09 01:40:15 (via www.the-world-in-focus.com)
Discover this unique country with many things to surprise you: friendly people, reasonable prices, together with a lack of fences (!), and blanket wearing villagers. Indeed, people wear wool blankets for helping to keep the body at an even temperature constantly. It’s impossible to come back from Lesotho without getting one for yourself!

Looking for an extreme, adventurous experience?
