Botswana is an inland country, so there are no beaches, but what it lacks in seaside resorts, it makes up for in natural beauty. The national parks and game reserves are wonderful and bird watchers will love the flamingoes in Makagadikgadi Pans National Park, which is one of the largest salt pans in the world. Safaris are organized in the Okavango Delta – the biggest delta in the world that empties, not into the sea, but into the Kalahari Desert. You will find the majority of the country’s elephants in the Chobe National Park. Don’t miss a visit to the Tsodilo Hills, known as the Desert Louvre, where you can see over 4500 prehistoric rock paintings which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
