Malawi isn’t called the “warm heart of Africa” for nothing. You will love this country and its friendly people. Blantyre, the largest town is very lively with busy markets selling homemade items and beautiful woodcarvings. The country has several very good museums such as the Cultural and Museum Centre in the Karonga district, which is renowned for its pre-historic remains, and the Postal Services Museum in Zonba. The Zomba Plateau has magnificent waterfalls, the best being the Williams Falls; The Queen and Emperor Viewpoints offer superb views of southern Malawi and you can buy crystals from the guides. You have a choice of sea water-sports in Monkey Bay or fresh water activities at Lake Malawi. Inviting golden sandy beaches are to be found in Nkhotakota, north of the former slave depot.
