The Sao Tome and Principe Islands are popular destinations. On Sao Tome, the National Museum is housed within the walls of a former fort. It has an excellent central market and art works are often on display in the city’s streets You can play volleyball or mini-golf, visit the Obo National Pak to see exotic birds, admire the 109 species of orchids in Pico de Sao Tome National Park and take superb photos of the Pico Cao Grande, a volcanic plug peak which looks as though it was transported from a scene in Lord of the Rings. The beaches on Principe are very beautiful with their coral reefs and underwater caves. Scuba diving and snorkelling are popular pastimes and you can swim alongside dolphins and green turtles.
