Our School was opened in September 2005. We are committed to creating new opportunities for young talented students by providing tailor made Chinese language programs in the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Chinese courtyard in Beijing.
Through our programs, we aim to enhance our student’s understanding and knowledge about Chinese language and Chinese culture. The location of our school in a traditional courtyard in the old center of Beijing shows the importance we attach to an authentic Chinese atmosphere. At the same time, our students live in modern apartments in genuine Chinese neighborhoods, giving them the chance to discover the heart of Beijing, rather than living on a campus on the outskirts of town.
* What does the Intensive Chinese Program consist of?
- Chinese classes (20 hours/week): Learn Chinese in small groups (or 10 hours private classes per week for students without a suitable group)
- Accommodation in single/double rooms in modern apartments in Central Beijing (Jiaodaokou, Dongzhimen, Andingmen, Dongsishitiao area)
- Weekly activities such as business lectures, excursions, cultural activities, etc.
- Airport pick-up
- Additional services such as support with Chinese visa application, registration in Beijing, travel inquiries, ticket booking, etc.
Our teaching method is specially designed for Westerners to learn Chinese by clearly separating the acquisition of spoken and written Chinese. To learn Chinese words and to learn Chinese characters are 2 very different things, so it makes sense to treat them separately.
* Who can learn Chinese through the Intensive Chinese Program?
The Intensive Chinese Program is open to any applicant, regardless of nationality, gender or race who wants to learn Chinese. Minimum required age is 18 years old.
Our School's Intensive Chinese Program is best suitable for:
- Absolute beginners who are very motivated, enthusiastic and eager to learn Chinese (conversational level) in a short period of time.
- "False beginners": people who have taken a short-term course (less than 60 hours of classes) outside China but never had the chance to take a real ‘language bath’ and learn Chinese in China
* Can people with intermediate or advanced also learn Chinese through the Intensive Chinese Program?
Yes, people with intermediate or advanced level have the following options to learn Chinese:
- Individualized Intensive Chinese Program adapted to your personal level, consisting of:
- 10 hours per week of pure private classes adapted to your level
- Extensive reading and writing assignments, in accordance with your interests, allowing you to learn Chinese vocabulary about certain topics
- For groups (min. 3, max. 8 people) with intermediate or advanced level, we will start a new class in our Intensive Chinese Program. As soon as there are 3 individual applicants with a similar level, we will open a new class in our Intensive Chinese Program, allowing you to learn Chinese efficiently.
* When does the Intensive Chinese Program start? For how long can you learn Chinese?
The Intensive Chinese Program starts at the beginning of every month and usually lasts up to 3 months. However if you want to learn Chinese longer than 3 months, we can extend the program on request. Applicants can choose the length that suits them best: 1, 2, 3 months or more.
Groups (min. 3 people) with intermediate or advanced level can start a new program anytime they want and choose a length up to 6 months to learn Chinese intensively. We attach great importance to flexibility to work out the best solution to allow anybody to learn Chinese efficiently.
* How can I apply for the Intensive Chinese Program?
You can fill out the on line application form and we will get back to you with a suitable schedule for you to learn Chinese in line with your preferred starting date, length of stay and your Chinese level. Application is free of charge.
Faculty Information:
The author of the teaching materials used at our school is Mr. Pr. Zhang Pengpeng. He is an associate professor at Beijing Language and Culture University and has taught Chinese to non-native speakers since 1975 in Beijing as well as at universities in France, Switzerland and Germany.
Other Activities:
Besides our lectures, our school also organizes frequent cultural activities to enrich the lives of our students. Through these activities, we aim at:
- Improving students' knowledge about Chinese culture
- Enhancing the community spirit among our school students
- Making new friends in Beijing: for some of the activities, we will invite some Chinese people to teach certain aspects of Chinese culture. In addition, students are also welcome to invite their own friends to join these activities.
Facility Information:
Unlike other schools, we accommodate our students in authentic Beijing neighborhood apartments in the city-center, rather than a campus dorm on the outskirts of town. Our apartments have 2 to 4 bedrooms and are all equipped with standard furniture and kitchen equipment, TV, DVD-player, telephone, internet connection, and 24-hour hot water. Students will be accommodated in single or double rooms (depending on the chosen program), while sharing bathroom, kitchen, living room etc.
Our apartments are conveniently located in Jiaodaokou, Dongzhimen, Andingmen and Dongsishitiao, all within biking distance (10-15 minutes) from our school. The areas around the apartments are very lively and characterized by lots of small shops, authentic Chinese restaurants (especially in the 'Lantern Street' or Guijie) and cozy chill-out bars, especially around the lake of Houhai.

* People staying 1-2 months will be accommodated in a double room and should come to Beijing on a Tourist Visa (L-visa). A single room can be arranged for a supplement of 170 euro/month. If you do an internship at a charitable organization (NGO) you are entitled to a 100€ discount per month.
