Overseas teachers of English either to Primary or Secondary school students who would like to refresh their teaching methodology and to make friends and contacts from other parts of the world. On the Oxford Teachers Refresher Course you will learn Creative ideas to make your classes livelier and interactive and Practical activities for motivating large classes. Personal language development is also an element of the course and based on the needs of the participants. Language improvement sessions to refresh and update your language are dynamic and interactive.
Topics include grammar awareness, pronunciation, collocation, phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions. Included on the course is a visit to Oxford University Press, a tour of Oxford, a social evening with tutors per week, a visit to a local school (dates permitting) and an end-of-course certificate outlining the sessions and hours attended. Each participant will take away a file of practical activities they can use in their classrooms and share with their colleagues.
Faculty Information:
Teacher Refresher Courses at the Lake School of English are eligible for EU Comenius funding. This course is taken in Oxford, and not in London, students on the Teachers Refresher Course do not qualify for Answer English’s FREE Extras.
Other Activities:
Under the Comenius programme, grants are provided to teachers of foreign languages including English, to improve the quality of teaching and the pedagogical skills of language teachers. If you would like to apply for Comenius funding, contact your local Socrates national agency.
