All of our trips are led by Charlie Cook, a well-known outdoor expert and "hiking guru" who has led more than 1200 trips over the years (back in 1973 he was one of the first 100 people to hike the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail end-to-end from Georgia to Maine).
In addition to being a licensed guide in New York State, and the founder-director of Wild Earth Adventures, Charlie is the author of 5 published books, including The Essential Guide to Hiking in the United States (Michael Kesend Publishing, 1992) and Awakening to Nature: Renewing Your Life by Connecting with the Natural World (McGraw-Hill, 2001). While his enormous repertory of trip destinations includes many well-known and often spectacular mountain areas, he has also long specialized in seeking out little-known trails and places and taking participants off-the-beaten-path.
