Carcassonne is one of the most visited monument of France and deserves it! Classified as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997, this monumental medieval fortress can boast a healthy 2300 years of age. Peaked on top of a hill that dominates the valleys that lead to the Atlantic ocean on one side, and to the Mediterranean sea on the other, the stronghold was never taken. After a guided tour of the 'Cité', you will visit the half romanesque and half gothic cathedral and finish by a stroll through the lices that date back to the 13th century.
