I am an authorized professional guide; I organize private guided sightseeing quality tours in Venice and islands of the lagoon (Murano, Burano and Torcello).

The sightseeing tours I offer:

CLASSICAL SIGHTSEEING I (inside) - To fully appreciate the splendors of Venetian art and history a guided visit to the Doge's Palace is a must! We start from the heart of Venice, St. Mark's Square. After a brief visit to St. Mark's Basilica we visit the Doge's palace that was for centuries the official residence of the Doge and of various political institutions. It is decorated with splendid carved gilded ceilings and with breathtaking paintings by Titian, Veronese and Tintoretto. Together we also cross the famous Bridge of Sighs and visit the Venetians' old Prison!

CLASSICAL SIGHTSEEING II (outdoors) We start from the heart of Venice, St. Mark's Square, the former political center. After a brief explanation of the Doge's palace and Bridge of Sighs from the outside we visit St. Mark's Basilica with its gorgeous mosaics and the Pala d'Oro, an incredible work of ancient gold slithery, unique in its kind! Through the Mercerie, the famous shopping street of Venice we reach the Rialto Bridge area, once the commercial trading center, and the Grand Canal.

MINOR VENICE - For those who do not wish to stay 2 hours long in the same building, museum or church, this a guided walking tour starting from St. Mark's Square giving you a general overview not only of the center (St. Mark's Church, Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs), but also of Venice off the beaten track, the small winding canals, the narrow streets... The tour ends close to the Rialto Bridge.

ART AND CULTURE - The Accademia Art Gallery offers a matchless collection of Venetian paintings from the beginnings, 14th up to the 18th Century. Admire the great masterpieces of Venetian art over the centuries!

ART AND CULTURE II - We visit the Gothic church S. Maria Gloriosa dei Frari which contains 2 masterpieces: Titian's Assunta and Pala Pesaro and Bellini's Trypticon or enter into the Archbrotherhood of S. Rocco with a fascinating painting cycle by Tintoretto. We also walk through the small, quiet street of the district of S. Polo and discover 'ombra' (glas of wine) and 'cicheti' (appetizers) in a wine bar.

MIRACOLI CHURCH AND CANNAREGIO - Cannaregio is the most authentic Venetian district left, lonely canals, quiet streets and crowded wine-bars. We start from the Miracoli church, a Renaissance shrine and finish close to the Jewish Ghetto, the oldest one in the world. Do you know that the word 'Ghetto' was coined here?

CA' REZZONICO - The air-conditioned museum Ca' Rezzonico facing the Grand Canal is entirely devoted to the 18th Century! This former privately owned palace includes paintings by Canaletto, Longhi, frescoes by Tiepolo, pieces of furniture by Brustolon and Murano chandeliers in an exceptional restored setting.

PALAZZO QUERINI-STAMPALIA - In the Palazzo Querini-Stampalia Querini's collection of paintings, furniture and Sevres china service offers an insight into the way of living of an average noble Venetian family in the 18th Century.Garden and inner courtyard were remodernized by Carlo Scarpa.

CARPACCIO'S PAINTINGS - This is a special guided tour of the Scuola di S. Giorgio degli Schiavoni, a former guild that contains the beautiful narrative cycle of paintings by Vittore Carpaccio representing among others St. George killing the dragon and saving the princess.

DORSODURO DISTRICT - Completely forgotten in the district of Dorsoduro lies the church of S. Sebastiano decorated with a pictorial cycle by Veronese, who is buried here. These paintings with beautiful colors and masterly compositions brought Veronese great fame.

MUSIC IN VENICE (on Thursdays) - You visit Vivaldi's Church La Piet; and the Ospedaletto, a charitable institution that became a music conservatory. A must is its unique 18th Century frescoed Music Room.

VENICE AND ITS NAVY (only in the morning) - Venetian history started with the sea. The Naval Museum offers the most complete history of Venetian and Italian navies with over 25,000 objects on display.

MURANO TRIP - You go by boat to the island of Murano. You visit one of the famous glass blowing factories and then either the Glass Museum in Palazzo Giustinian or S. Maria e Donato church, one of the oldest churches in the lagoon!

LAGOON TRIP - Discover the historical roots of Venice by visiting the islands of the northern lagoon Murano, Burano and eventually Torcello. A half-day guided tour - 5 hours - by private boat; a fascinating journey, and worthwhile - especially in Spring!
VENICE BY NIGHT - You tour in the twilight the historical center, St. Mark's Square, you walk to the Rialto Bridge, the former trading center, and finish taking a ride by boat on the Grand Canal back to the Square.
