Lake Allatoona is located in Northwest Georgia on the Etowah river and can be accessed by both Interstate 75 and 575. It is located within the counties of Cobb, Bartow, and Cherokee. This impoundment covers approximately 12,000 acres and 210 miles of shoreline. Lake Allatoona was built by the Army Corp of Engineers during the times when lake basins were completely cleared of debris. Though the lake has a very barren basin, it still provides an excellent home for striped, spotted, and largemouth bass. Allatoona averages over 13 million visitor each year.
