Day 1 - Arrive Lahore;
On arrival at Lahore, you will be received by our agent and transferred to your designated hotel. Afternoon visit to Shalimar Gardens. It was completed between 1641 and 1643 in the reign of Emperor Shah Jehan. "Shalimar" means " the place of love and happiness" With its triple terraced gardens, decorated with marble pavilions, ornamental pools,waterfalls and fountains, this is one of the world's finest Persian-Style gardens. Day 2 - Arrive Lahore;
In the morning, we start our tour with a visit to Lahore Museum. Established in 1864, it displays a complete cross-section of the culture and history of the region with rare manuscripts,
miniatures, Islamic Calligraphy, contemporary arts and crafts. This museum also contains one of the best collections of Buddhist art from the Gandhara period. We also visit Jehangir"s Tomb. This tomb of the fourth Mughal Emperor is set magnificently in the calm surroundings of symmetrical gardens. We also visit the Badshahi Mosque. This mosque was built in 1674 and is considered the Worlds largest, living historical mosque. This Islamic Worship Center was constructed using an attractive blend of white marble and red sandstone. The poet philosophe "Iqbal" is buried at its footsteps.
In the afternoon, we visit famous Lahore Fort. Built between 1566 and 1673, this marvel of Mughal architecture with its superbly preserved Shish Mahal (Hall of mirrors), Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque) and Pakistan's only surviving Elephants steps. We also visit Old City of Lahore. Built in 16th century A.D, this walled area, accessible through 12 gates, is certainly the highlight of Lahore. This fascinating area is a maze of interconnecting alleys and multistoried houses. We also visit some shops, which contain a handsome variety of handicrafts including carpets, embroidery, jewelry, ceramics, onyx and ivory. Overnight stay in Lahore. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 3 - Islamabad;
Leave for Islamabad by road (4-5 hrs drive). We will be travelling on the newly constructed motorway known as M-2. This motorway was recently constructed to connect the cities of Lahore and Islamabad. After check in and lunch at hotel, we will visit Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, National park and Shakarparian Hills. Overnight stay in Islamabad. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 4 - Peshawar;
Leave for Peshawar. En route visit Taxila Museum and archaeological sites. Taxila remained famous as a center of learning of Gandhara art, sculpture, architecture, education and Buddhism in the days of Buddhist glory. There are over 50 archaeological sites scattered over a radius of 30 Km around Taxila. The museum comprises various sections with rich archaeological finds of Taxila. After arrival at Peshawar, check in at hotel. In afternoon visit Peshawar Museum and visit Balahisar Fort, originally built by Babar, the first of Mughal. Later on Sikh Governor of Peshawar rebuilt it. We also visit famous Bazaars of Peshawar. Overnight stay in Peshawar. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 5 - Peshawar;
Full day excursion to Khyber Pass. Situated in the Sulaiman Hills which form the western barrier of Pakistan. The hills dip down here,
leaving a passage sometimes as broad as 1 ½ km and sometimes as narrow as 16 meters.The pass begins near Jamrud Fort, 18 km from
Peshawar and extends beyond the border of Pakistan at Torkham, 58 km away. We travel to Khyber Pass via Jamrud Fort which lies amongst low stony hills capped with pickets manned by Khyber Rifles.On route is also the Sphola Stupas of Buddhist period and Landikotal Bazaar until you reach the border post at Torkham. In the evening we return to Peshawar for overnight stay. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 6 - Saidu Sharif;
Departure for Swat by coach. En route stop at Takht-e-Bahi which is ancient Buddhist monastery dating back to 540 AD. This site has produced fragmentary sculptures in stone and stucco that indicate the highly developed sculptural sense of their creators. Driving along the picturesque Malakand Pass, we visit famous Churchill's Picket enroute. After check in at hotel at Saidu Sharif, we visit Swat Museum. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 7 - Kalam and Miandam;
In the morning we depart for Kalam which is a hilly resort in Swat valley. You will pass small villages of handicraft makers. Stop to buy local art work and antique including wool shawls with intricate silk embroidery, silver tribal jewelry, wood carvings and precious stones. We will return to Miandam for overnight stay. Day 8 - Gilgit;
Drive to Besham over the exciting route over the Shangla Pass. The Buddhist monks built the road over 2000 years ago. From Besham , we follow the Karakoram highway to Gilgit. This 805 kms dual carriage metalled road winds to the Chinese frontier across the 4,733 meters high Khunjerab Pass. This road which was completed in 15 years, has been forced through some of the world's toughest terrain. Enroute visit the Shatial and Chilas to see the rock carvings. Overnight stay at Gilgit. Day 9 - Karimabad;
Departure for Hunza. Sightseeing all along the route which is surrounded by some of the tallest mountains in the world,and is dominated by Rakaposhi Peak. The Hunza Valley has arugged charm, the fragrant breeze singing through graceful polar trees and the velvet like green carpet of wheat fields set against the background of snow-covered mountains.Karimabad, the capital of Hunza, offers an awe-inspiring View of Rakaposki peak, which is 7,788 meters. Overnight stay at Karimabad. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 10 - Karimabad;
Full day excursion of Upper Hunza valley up to Sust. We visit some of the important historical sites including the recently renovated Baltit Fort and the older Altit Fort. Optional tours to either Nagar Valley or the Khunjerab Pass are available. Overnight stay at Karimabad. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 11 - Gilgit;
Driving southwards, we again reach the ancient silk route town of Gilgit, the administrative center of Northern Pakistan. Afternoon, we tour Gilgit, visit a local school, the house of a Gilgiton, the popular polo ground and the very typical mountain bazaar. We'll also visit the impressive rock carvings of Buddha near Kargah. Overnight stay at Gilgit. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 12 - Besham;
After an early breakfast drive on the Karakoram Highway to Besham. The spectular drive follows the valley of Indus River and passes under the great masif of Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest mountain in the world (8126 meters). You will also see the meeting point of the three greatest mountain ranges in the world at the confluence of the Indus and Gilgit rivers. Overnight stay at Besham. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 13 - Islamabad;
After crossing Indus river at Thakot Bridge, we continue our drive over the Chattar Plateau. Enroute we stop over at Abbotabad. Overnight stay in Islamabad. Includes: (B) (L)
Day 14 - You will be transferred from your hotel to the airport for your next destination. Includes: (B)
