Our company was founded in the spring of 2005 by Tamsen Resor, an American who first visited Croatia in 2002. After paddling the Dalmatian coast and islands on her own, Tamsen wanted to share her memorable experience with others. Exploring new caves and snorkeling spots, feasting on grilled seafood in family-owned restaurants, and enjoying the locals’ hospitality are just a few of the region’s many delights. Unlike other tour companies, AKT caters to small groups and focuses on the area’s natural wonders. AKT offers half and full day sea kayak tours, multi-day sea kayak tours, and multi-sport tours in southern Dalmatia.
Our Trips
No previous kayaking experience is necessary. Each tour begins with kayak training and paddling technique in shallow, protected water. Tours are highly flexible; pace and activities are determined by the group; and each tour is unique and customized. Tours are designed to take advantage of the best that the Dubrovnik region has to offer and to protect its natural environment.
We offer multi-day and one-day sea kayaking, cycling, and multi-sport tours on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast and islands. One week tours are based in privately-owned Croatian guest houses on small islands, from which guests “island hop” by sea kayak, swim, snorkel, and explore islands by bicycle or on foot. Tours begin and end in Dubrovnik, the renowned walled medieval city on the Adriatic Sea- a UNESCO protected world monument. Day tours to several islands operate out of our main office in Dubrovnik and depart from one of the city's local beaches. Group size is small, with an 8:1 maximum client to guide ratio, allowing for highly personalized tours. AKT guides are Croatian, fluent in English as well as other languages and are the most experienced sea kayaking guides in Croatia, having led tours for five years. AKT is owned by Tamsen, an American; however, the company is a Croatian registered company with offices in Europe and North America. Tamsen, an experienced kayaker, holds an MBA from Simmons School of Management and has received extensive outdoor leadership training from NOLS.
Our Guides
Guides are locals, knowledgeable about local history, culture, and folklore. They are trained and skilled kayakers and nature guides. Because group size is small - eight maximum - our guides offer a highly personalized service, structured to meet group needs.
Eco Tourism
M10309 (AKT) is committed to preserving and enhancing southern Dalmatia’s natural environment while economically supporting Croatia’s tourism industry; the primary driver of the local economy. AKT group sizes are small. Clients travel by sea kayak, bicycle, or on foot, all of which are intentional efforts to minimize any potential negative impacts to the natural environment and local population. The AKT company policy includes the recycling paper and glass products. AKT uses locally owned accredited guest houses for accommodations, restaurants for meals, and ferries for transport. AKT guides are Croatian, knowledgeable about local customs and the marine ecosystem. Direct economic support comes from FDI (an American owned company). |
