M11292 was founded by Pat Walker of San Francisco. Pat has been involved in the travel and aviation industries for 25 years. She recently was a guest speaker at the ATA Eco Tourism conference in Ludanda, Angola. She spoke about the impact of cultural tourism on host countries. Her vision is to make a difference in the countries her clients visit - tourism is one way to help lift people out of poverty.
We want you to have a one-of-a-kind cultural and philanthropic travel experiences with our company that you can’t find anywhere else! Our groups are small and flexible and that gives you intimate access to the local people. On one of our trips you might find yourself having lunch with a writer, reporter, a former political prisoner, or government official. You will spend time with tribal cultures (without electricity or running water) who unaccustomed to visitors or have dinner with an entrepreneur struggling with a new business.
You will be impressed by traditional healers and "ordinary" yet innovative people making a difference in their communities. These personal connections make our tours remarkable and memorable. For many years I was involved in the aviation and aerospace industries and my business took me all over the world. Often after my business was completed, I would take some personal time and just explore out of the way places. Many times on these excursions the local people would say to me: We just don’t see many Americans here.
Those comments inspired me to develop a cultural tour experience to introduce small, select groups of Americans to these interesting countries, out-of-the-way places, and encourage them to interact with these fascinating cultures. We hire only the best local guides and drivers and we stay in locally owned hotels and B&B’s. These tours are designed to give the traveler a blend of cultural experiences while helping the economy of the countries and the peoples that we visit. The majority of your travel dollar will go to directly to benefit the people and their communities.
We will also design special custom tours for media organizations, associations, clubs, and groups. And we also specialize in Learning Service Project tours for universities. If you can't go on one of our scheduled trips - we will connect you with our partners in South Africa who will help you plan to go it alone!
