The Resort name was derived from the beautiful ridge top location while the architectural design reflects the style favored by the trader clipper ship captains of the 19th century. The Hotel and Restaurant overlook a spectacular view of Chammorro Bay with the open ocean beyond, and the Poolside Café offers a casual command post perch in the old officer's quarters. This intimate retreat of 20 rooms and 2 Grand Suites is styled in unique 1880's Victorian architecture offering all the amenities of a 5 Star Hotel. Our staff is trained to see to your every need and attention to detail is our trademark. From the moment you enter our spacious lobby, the warm and friendly atmosphere of Traders´ Ridge makes you feel the resort is your home.
The entire facility was re-birthed to bring visitors closer to the Ethnic Art Institute of Micronesia, founded by the Robert Gumbiner Foundation, a non-profit organization. A dance platform and natural amphitheater in this village provide a perfect setting to promote and continue the Yapese traditional dance ceremonies, which remain ingrained in modern Yapese culture. This ethnic arts village also provides a venue for the revival of traditional Micronesian art that had all but disappeared. The Foundation searched private collections and museums throughout the globe to find examples of these relics, then educated local carvers, weavers and handicraft artists who now use this location to reproduce these indigenous items. Our Gift Shop is one of the few places in the world you can purchase these authentic handmade custom products. |
