M12153 is New Zealand's only 5 star rated, specialist fly fishing lodge, located near Murchison in the South Island of New Zealand. The lodge sits on the bank of the Owen River, providing our guests with views which are simply breath-taking, with sensational views of the Owen River, the valley and Mount Owen. We are centrally located, with easy access to the Nelson/Marlborough and West Coast fisheries. This location places us right in the middle of the best brown trout fishery in the world.
Thus you can enjoy fly fishing on numerous blue-ribbon streams and rivers, with over 30 waters accessible by road (most within 1 hour’s drive), and countless others by helicopter. The lodge is situated on 16 acres of land with almost one kilometer of absolute river frontage to the Owen River.

My wife Molly and I did in fact stay for 3 days , 2 nights at Owen River Lodge and were most pleased, would give them a 9-10.

The lodge views and setting are truly majestic and pastoral and we could hear the quiet flow of the river from our room. Besides setting up an impromptu, complimentary mountain bike ride for us.., our host introduced us to an absolutely first rate fly-fishing guide to fish some of the 'gin-clear' rivers nearby( and they live up to the description). |

With fine gourmet meals, stimulating conversation amoungst the staff and guests, cabins that overlook the Owen River, ones' thoughts rarely venture to the places that we have escaped from. At the end of each day, when you retire to your cabin and are laying in that oversized comfortable bed you realize that this is truely what dreams are made of. We left with a warmth of knowing that we had new friends and a home to come to that fortunately for us has a lot of Big Brown Trout!! |
