Aitutaki is a 40 minute flight from Rarotonga and is known as a firm favourite of popular Australian travel show host Katrina Rowntree from the long-running 'Getaway' programme. Aitutaki has been capturing imaginations for many hundreds of years. Legendary Polynesian voyager Ru made landfall there well over a thousand years ago. In 1789 Captain William Bligh and the men of the HMS Bounty were the first Europeans to arrive, reputedly bringing with them the vibrant, succulent pawpaw, just 17 days before the infamous mutiny. In the 1950's a new wave of adventurer came by glamorous Solent Flying Boat for a leisurely refuelling stop along the Coral Route and a swim in the surreal lagoon waters.
Aitutaki is an exquisite atoll, unspoiled and quiet M12245 is the resort on the beach. Seven bungalows are overwater, others hide in the trees or hug the lagoon.
