We are the Adams’ family. Larry and Mary (L and M) and our three sons, Travis, Lucas, and Shane came to Ontario Canada from Iowa (where we farmed for 17 years prior). We purchased a fly-in American Plan fishing camp (Slippery Winds Resort located on Yoke Lake, just north of Pipestone Lake) in 1986 and operated that camp until the spring 1992. Our 3 sons grew up fishing and guiding at Slippery Winds Resort. At that time, Larry studied to get his private pilots license. We hired our commercial flights done, and he flew around to the fly in outpost cabins doing camp checks and to make sure everyones fishing trip went well.
Once we had sold the fly in fishing camp and bought the store on Clearwater Lake (Sportsmans Landing), we got our commercial air charter license and Larry got his commercial license. When Travis graduated high school, he worked for his private and then commercial license, too. From there, he went on to become an aircraft mechanic. Now Travis flies for us quite a few of the weekends during the season, and holds a job at an airport as chief inspector. Travis married Chris in 2002, who is a dental assistant and office manager in a dental office.
Once we owned and operated Sportsmans Landing and airbase on Clearwater Lake, Lucas, whose wife is Nicole (Nikki) ran Sportsmans Landing. They now have a small resort on Off Lake where most of our guests have rented a cabin for overnight before they fly out to the fly in outpost cabins. Lucas was in charge of running company office before it relocated the airbase to Dryden Ontario. They also have 3 children that keep their house just buzzing with fun and laughter. Now they have purchased a boat in outpost cabin on Pipestone Lake and have purchased two of our fly in outpost cabins from us--Dogfly Lake and Grant Lake. They are still run and maintained the same as our other cabins at the company, but are owned by Lucas and Nikki. They are set up on there own and call themselves, Gateway North Outfitters. Lucas also does guided deer and bear hunts in NW Ontario.
Larry does a great deal of the commercial flights as well and camp work. He is the oversee-ER to the operation to make sure all guests of company have a great fishing trip in Ontario. Mary does whatever job needs to be done. She can go from office to PR manager. We are all here to run the operation. Either of us can answer your questions or to help you to set up a fishing trip at any one of our Canadian fly in outpost cabins.
