This big 1920s villa faces the Mont St-Michel in the middle of the countryside. The sea, the sky, the earth, infinite blues, greens, greys blend into each other — everything that has shaped us is here, in the crashing waves, the gusts of wind, the striking natural beauty. We wanted this place to be suspended between sky and earth, facing the sea which is visible from the eleven rooms and two apartments, through the big mullioned windows. Each room encourages rest, refreshment and meditation. The furniture comes from antique shops or belongs to the original house — the soft or bright colors complement the sea view, while all the comforts are there to carry you away.
On the main floor of M14039 is the marine bistro "Le Coquillage", whose dining room with its soft light and dark wood is designed not to disturb your contemplation of the sea. Here, you will taste simple and authentic cooking made with ingredients from the Bay of Cancale - several hot and cold preparations of fish and shellfish served in a convivial atmosphere. The villa also allows you to enjoy the living room where you can read books on the region, the history of St-Malo and the spice route, while sipping our spiced grog, to warm you up after a windy hike, or a herbal tea as delicate as it is subtle.
Whatever the weather, the landscape haunts and absorbs you. So you'll leave the villa to walk along the shore or enter the domain of Alain and Frédéric who take care of the park, the orchard and the vegetable garden. You'll see their tall silhouettes bending, leaning or stretching to trim, weed, plant anything that will allow me to fully express myself through my cooking. Alain is passionate about the orchard and its sumptuous fruit trees and berry bushes whose fruits, when ripe, are transformed into desserts and jams for breakfast. Both Alain and Frédéric devote a great deal of time to the Celtic garden, herbs and vegetables surrounded by sheets of slate that have long been thought to promote the growth and health of plants.
Together, we tirelessly search for organic seeds, often heirlooms that create exquisite and rare flavors. Our beehives allow us to produce 100 kg of honey bringing together all the flowers of the garden - honey which is served at breakfast. Each beautiful season here brings surprises and wonder in our quest for the purest possible ingredients. |
