With over 30 years experience as an artist, Sam concentrates his full time efforts to commissioned landscapes and portraits. His widely acclaimed artists' workshops in Tuscany, Amalfi and Sicily Italy and the U.S. continues to grow in popularity. Graduating from Providence College, he studied at: The Paier School of Art, Hamden, CT under portrait artist, Joseph Funaro Lyme Academy of Art under Dan Gheno Landscape painter, Thomas Beuchner of Elmira, New York The Scottsdale Artist School in advanced landscape painting with Skip Whitcomb of Fort Collins, Colorado Block Island, RI with Mel Stabin the Plein Air Painter's of America Workshop 2003 in Old Lyme, CT with Matt Smith and Kevin McPherson.
After teaching art in a area colleges, he has developed a 10-week program of art instruction in oil painting in Middlebury and Essex, CT. An annual portrait workshop is given every November. He was chosen by American Artist Magazine as a landscape-painting instructor at the 2004 Art Methods and Materials Show in Pasadena, California. He was also appointed for a two-year term to the State of Connecticut Commission on the Arts and served on its Executive Committee. Current painting projects include original paintings of New England and Tuscany, Italy as well as selected landscape and portrait commissions.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
Our company formally started in 1998 and is now in their 15th year of operation. Sam D’Ambruoso, owner, artist and instructor, has been painting professionally since 1972. The company’s first workshop was in Tuscany and has been in the same location for the last 15 years. Our new recreational culinary classes are now designed for artists as well as complete program for artists’ guests.
2. What is your company's mission?
Our mission is to deliver the very best services in art instruction and cultural experiences in popular areas of Italy and the USA to small groups of 10 artists at a time ensuring plenty of one-on-one art instruction.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We specialize in landscape painting art instruction with small groups of artists for beginners to advanced professionals as well as recreational culinary classes for artists’ guests with noted regional chefs of Italy. Our art instruction takes the artist to the next level of artistic development in painting.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Sam D’Ambruoso, founder/owner, artist and instructor, has been professionally painting for the last 30 years. He has past extensive corporate management experience as well as full credentials as an artist and in art instruction. His business partner and wife, Mary Ann D’Ambruoso, has worked extensively as a meeting planner in the hotel/ hospitality and recreational culinary industry for over 25 years.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Our most popular travel packages are the Landscape Painting Workshops in Tuscany and Amalfi. Our October Tuscany workshop, a true artist’s retreat, offers plenty of rolling hills and cypress trees for the artist’s canvas as well as full health and beauty spa services at our hotel. During the Feast of St. Andrew in June, our Amalfi workshop in the south of Italy offers spectacular touring and painting opportunities in Positano, Ravello, and the Isle of Capri. Both locations have excellent world-class, recreational culinary classes as well.
