M14418 is the largest resident in the new Center for the Arts, occupying roughly one third of the 42,000 square foot facility. The Center is an architectural marvel, designed by Harry Teague Architects, who also designed Colorado’s Anderson Ranch. It’s spaces are filled with light and incredible views of the surrounding mountains. We are located at the heart of Jackson, a few blocks south of the Town Square and north of Snow King Mountain, which rises steeply from the backyard of the center, providing a view from an art center unlike any in the world. Our spaces include:
Artspace Our 1700 square foot gallery is divided into a main gallery with cathedral ceilings and an intimate loft gallery with access to the terrace.
Ceramics/Sculpture A 2050 square foot studio equipped with all necessary tools and equipment for wheel thrown, hand built, slipcast, or sculptural ceramics. The studio is stocked with small tools, a glazing/mixing application lab, and equipment includes 12 electric wheels, 1 bailey slab roller, 1 Northstar slab roller, 1 Northstar extruder and dies, 1 Axner "New Wave" Pugmill, 2 Olympic electric kilns with Bartlett controllers, 1 Fiber lined downdraft kiln, and 1 sandblasting cabinet. Also has roll-up bay doors to allow easy loading of large work and a fantastic way to open the studio during the summer.
Children’s Studio For smaller classes and smaller kids, this 523 square foot studio is connected to the lobby and waiting area where parents can easily pick up and drop off their kids, who are visible through the large windows. Large classes and older children use our adult studios.
Painting Studio Natural light from large clerestory windows floods 1700 square feet of open space. Two sinks and plenty of room to spread out and explore larger work.
Borshell Drawing Studio One of the Center’s best views is had from the deck of this incredible 1300 square foot space – the architectural screen shading the studio is a work of art in itself. This studio provides ample room for drawing as well as specialized crafts such as silversmithing and stained glass.
Photography Studio This 820 square foot studio has a traditional and digital darkroom. The traditional darkroom has 8 enlargers that accept film formats up to 4x5 inches, two large leedal sinks with temperature controls, a separate room for developing film, and a separate room for washing and drying prints. The digital darkroom has four iMac g5 computers all equipped with Wacom tablets, Adobe CS2, Aperture, and Macromedia Studio 8, a Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 film scanner, a Microtek i900 flatbed scanner, an Epson R1800 printer, and an Epson 7600 printer.
Digital Arts Studio This 820 square foot space is under development, but is currently used as a multipurpose room and is also used by the YARD art program.
