From our base on Lake Superior in Northern Ontario (since 1994) we provide guided sea kayak and canoe tours, white-water river trips, including wilderness overnight camping, lodge-to-lodge kayaking, kayak instruction, and outfitting. (See schedule/prices for list of tours).

Destinations: Lake Superior, including Pukaskwa National Park, Lake Superior Provincial Park, Slate Islands, Sibley, and Lake Huron, Whalesback Channel. We also offer exciting canoe expeditions and outfitting in the Lake Superior watershed and northern Ontario.

Whale Watching: In addition, we provide a lodge based trip in the Saguenay - St. Lawrence National Marine Park where we kayak among minke, fin and blue whales.

Whether enjoying the camaraderie of your fellow paddlers, the magnificent vistas of Lake Superior, or the whales of the St. Lawrence, you will acquire memories for a lifetime.

Courses: We offer sea kayak instruction for beginners to advanced paddlers.

From our base on Lake Superior, Ontario, we provide guided sea kayak tours and river trips for all skill levels, as well as rentals and instruction.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

Beginning in 1994, we were avid kayakers who fell in love with the beauty of Lake Superior. Wishing to share this experience with others, we started guiding small groups, and ultimately developed numerous trips for all skill levels.

2. What is your company's mission?

Our objective: by use of kayak and canoe to promote a healthy, adventurous outdoor experience, that will leave participants with new skills to experience and appreciate our Canadian wilderness.

3. What does your company specialize in?

Guided sea kayaking trips for all skill levels. Primarily eastern Lake Superior, including Pukaskwa National Park, Lake Superior Provincial Park, Slate Islands, and Lake Huron North Channel, and a lodge-based whale watching trip (sea kayaking) in the Saguenay - St. Lawrence National Marine Park.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

Mike Petzold, founder of M14510, 1995, and former professional biologist, has been guiding for over a decade. Having received four star certification from the British Canoe Union, Mike has paddled extensively throughout Lake Superior, as well as Costa Rica, Baja, Newfoundland, and Quebec. Colleen Petzold has guided trips along Lake Superior and the St. Lawrence for the past ten years. A professional Forestry Technician for 25 years, she enjoys kayaking, birding, hiking, and vegetarian cooking. She is a certified First Aid/CPR Instructor and holds a Four Star British Canoe Union certification.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Slate Islands, Lake Superior. Sheltered and remote paddling, friendly wildlife - i.e., woodland caribou roaming by our campsite! crystal clear water.
