M14562 was founded in 1978 and has led the Santa Fe and Taos field in developing rafting in the gorgeous canyons of northern New Mexico. Taos and Santa Fe rafting season usually runs from March through November, with the fall colors at their most beautiful in late September and early October. We are licensed by the Bureau of Land Management to run the Rio Grande, Rio Chama, and Rio Dolores. Rafting on these Santa Fe and Taos rivers is strictly controlled, with access severely limited in order to preserve the wilderness. We have more permits than any other company.
Los Rios is involved in many projects to serve the community: We donate one dollar per day of every guest's fee to river conservation, and we work with the Bureau of Land Management on a wilderness preservation scheme in the Chama Canyon. (For more information on river conservation, go to Rio Grande Restoration.) We also provide our services to the Santa Fe and N.M. Game & Fish Department in restocking the Rio Grande with trout, and to the N.M. State Police Department for Search and Rescue operations in the Rio Grande Gorge.
Los Rios guides are the best on the river, with an average of ten years’ experience. All are professionally trained in river safety, swiftwater rescue, first aid and CPR, and many are Certified Wilderness First Responders. All exceed federal requirements. They are from Santa Fe and Taos aand are fun-loving, creative individuals, friendly and knowledgeable, devoted to making your trip the best it can be. |
