New York City's story is my passion and I'm delighted to share the city's architecture, history, culture and its' amazing stories with visitors. Walking the city's streets and hearing the stories told in the actual places where they occurred is the most compelling way to experience New York. As the layers of 400 years of New York's history unfold participants in my walking tours gain a new appreciation of this unique place. New York's rich variety of architecture makes it a virtual textbook of architectural history-LeCorbusier said he prefered New York's versions of Italian Rennaissance buildings to the originals in Florence-and for historical events, no American cities even come close.
I've explored the city on foot, from a bicycle, by subway and bus and through the written record over the past twenty years. All of my exploration and reading has simply fueled my quest to learn more about this unique and often overwhelming place. The best part is the opportunity to tell the city's stories to others. That's why I do walking tours of New York City. Additionaly I guide tours of the Hudson River Valley-really a part of the story of New York City. Over the past several years I've guided walking tours for the the Beaux Arts Society, the Council on Arts and Humanities of Staten Island, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the New York Open Center, cruises around New York harbor and up the Hudson River to West Point for New York Waterway and tours for corporate clients such as American Express, Credit Suisse, Prudential and Reuters. I was certified as having completed the NYC&Company Summer 2002 Tour Guide Enhancement Program. |
