Tico Tours is a U.S. based organizer of birding tours. We specialize in small group (4-8 birders) birding tours to Costa Rica. Limiting the group size allows us to provide excellent, personalized service to all participants.

We will organize every aspect of your birding tour. We work with several well established tour companies to negotiate the best possible all inclusive prices. We handle everything including making room and meal reservations at some of the best nature lodges, ensuring expert guides are available, arranging safe and reliable transportation, and providing information including bird checklists and maps of the areas visited. We can also assist you in
making flight reservations and we can offer you
trip protection insurance. Our goal is to ensure your tour with us is one of the best birding experiences of your life. Michael R. (Mike) Boatwright, owner/operator of and head guide for Tico Tours, has been birding for over 35 years. He has birded extensively in North America,the Bahamas,Costa Rica, and most recently Ecuador and has a Life List of nearly 1000 species. Mike made his first visit to Costa Rica in February 2005 where he birded most of the areas described while amassing over 200 Life Birds. Mike started Tico Tours as a way of sharing the fantastic experience of a birding trip to Costa Rica.

Mike holds a Biology degree from Old Dominion University and has been a Chemistry Manager for the last ten years. His leadership skills will ensure every trip is well organized and lead with your satisfaction being his primary goal.
